Thought with so many good races over the 3 days it would be a good idea to have a thread for the meeting like with the breeders cup

The schloer chase in particular and arkle trial look like cracking races if all the entrants turn up

Mainly looking forward to defi du seuil in open company and getaway trumps second go over fences, though disappointed to see getaway trump 13/8 fav

Was hoping since al dancer won convincingly getaway trump would be 5/2-3/1 when first priced up.

Also like the look of brewinupastorm if he runs on friday, though hes entered on Saturday at wetherby and Cheltenham on sunday so no play at this stage

    Any fancies/bets?

Tobefair at 8’s in The Big Bucks Hurdle for me, think he’s got another one in him, and I think he’ll run in Graded Company soon.

I fear plenty in it though, the likes of As De Mee, Lil Rockerfeller, Anteros, and Vieux Lion Rouge, but unless he doesn’t get declared, it’ll be Tobefair for me.

I think that Some Day Soon in the opener, will be my only other bet on the card, outside of the big one.

    Currently 18’s, he’s a decent each way, but I’ll hopefully get 20’s+

1.50 Cheltenham – West Approach 9/2. Ran very well here over c/d after a 6 month
lay-off 3 weeks ago. If he doesn’t bounce after that he could go one better here.

2.25 Cheltenham – Slate House 10/1 (trading at 11/2). Backed him 2 weeks back
(in Betvictor GC thread) after his return at Cheltenham. I was looking for a big
year from him last year and it just didn’t happen. It seems 2 wind ops have done
the trick and I think he could have a big season. I nearly stuck him in as my star
horse in VTC’s Ten To Follow, I really rate him.

3.00 Cheltenham – The Butcher Said 6/1. He won 3 on the bounce, and was
hiked up 21lbs from May to october by the handicapper. I think that’s fair enough and he
did well running off the mark last time when runner up to a very well fancied odds on Ranses
De Teillee over c/d on heavy. Everything should be to his liking today.

Big River should relish the conditions with stamina at a premium and will need to pick up a prize like this if connections are eyeing up a tilt at Aintree. Achille is my backup. I’m just not convinced West Approach is all that genuine.

Vieux Lion Rouge is likely going to be put spot on for his Becher bid with this run, so he’s not a betting proposition for me which is rare as I’ve backed him in far less realistic contests than this. I’ve instead opted for Anteros who has done little wrong as of late. He’s out of the handicap which isn’t ideal obviously, but he appeals as ew value.

Really impressive there from Allmankind as well.

Tried to nab some 40’s for Triumph Hurdle, but it disappeared very quickly.

Relentless Dreamer ew 3places with Paddys for me in the 1.50. I think he was unsighted when he made the mistake at Ascot – he normally jumps OK and I think will get the trip. Course winner over 3m1f and went OK on soft on seasonal reappearance at Chepstow.

Bad start for me, minella warrior pulled up

Must’ve injured itself as it started jumping ok then suddenly started making a funny shape over his fences

Happy diva saved the day for me, my other bets all ran well below form

Though have a silly treble rolling onto tomorrow

    Notebook 11/4
    Saldier w/o klassical dream 5/4
    Getaway trump 6/4

I felt like crying when saldier won especially after drifting to 7s as I couldve got a better w/o price

Fingers crossed getaway trump can reverse the form with al dancer tomorrow

I had the first two winners for small money but stupidly did not double them. Magic Saint scraping into a place dragged me into profit but it might have been so much better if Slate House had stayed on his feet.

It was still an enjoyable day of racing. It is one of my favourite meetings of the year.

Happy enough with West Approach at 9/2, but a bit gutted that Slate House came down
at the 2nd last when looking like he was coming through strongly. Hard to say he would
have won, Happy Diva deserved it in the end, but after not travelling too well early
on, and some scratchy jumping, Slate House looked tgo be taking off. I just hope he’s
okay after the fall and that it doesn’t dent his confidence. I’ve not lost faith in
this horse, I think there is a big race in him.
