You could do the Wednesday cards on Thursday plus 3 races from Thursday as well. Then have the remaining races on Friday’s card as well as Friday itself.
Exactly, 7 races just have 3 incorporated into Thursdays card and 4 on Friday – start Thursday with the first race at 12pm, 2nd at 12:30pm & 3rd at 1pm then normal Thursday card from 1:30pm to 5:30pm.
Friday you can do the same thing but push back the last race to 6pm instead of 5:30pm or start at 11:30am to 1pm for the 4 outstanding races and then start your Friday card as usual at 1:30pm
Yes, a lot to cram in but if they are forced to their back up plan then Saturday will not feel like a day of the Festival. Big problem is TV – there are already SIX scheduled Jumps fixtures in Britain and Ireland. Plus jockeys availability, etc.
Are they really thinking Saturday trial or is this just a coincidence? As LD already stated there is still room for maneuver on Thursday and Friday even with no racing at all tomorrow. You can’t ask people who have made hotel arrangements until Friday to come back on Saturday. Will the Wednesday racegoers get some compensation then, or what?
Can’t see them adding weds card to thurs and fri. They would have to refund all people who bought a ticket for wed, and start refunding sponsors etc.
They would refund Weds ticket holders if switched to Sat and I don’t think Sat would be a sneaky trial. What it would be is a completely different and smaller ad hoc crowd.
If the BBC forecast is to be believed the wind will have died down to 15-20 mph by the time the racing starts
Zero chance racing will be cancelled at 8am today.
