Well thats Cheltenham out of the way for another year and despite treggy giving everyone a chance to catch up, just couldnt be caught. It’s fair to say that treggy has stolen the show from day one.
Well done Treggy, you are now hereby crowned the Cheltenham Comp Champion 2009.
Well done also to Tony25 who snatched 2nd place from Imperial Call on the line.
Well done and thank you to everyone who took part it has been very enjoyable.

Well done Treggy the Baron of Cheltenham.
Blackbeard to conquer the World
March 14, 2009 at 01:43 #216176Many thanks for all your hard work, Bully….it’s been great fun.
Congratulations, Treggy (Baron of Cheltenham)….you’re a worthy winner…hope you’ve made big money this week!Powered by Linux
March 14, 2009 at 01:57 #216182Yes, thanks for all your hard work on this, Bully. The competition added greatly to the fun of what has been a really enjoyable Festival, with some fantastic racing. Thanks too to everyone who has contributed to the Cheltenham threads. I certainly feel the excellent standard of commentary and debate on the forum has helped sharpen my edge for taking on the bookies this time.
March 14, 2009 at 01:58 #216183A stunning points tally with a 0 on the last day Well done for all the effort and grief of running the comp. (although i decided to follow treggys outsiders on the last day with my free 10 bet )
March 14, 2009 at 03:19 #216207Well done Treggy and thanks to Bulwark – good attendance for the comp which shows how poular it was.
March 14, 2009 at 04:12 #216222Just put up the comp as enjoyed Johnny B’s comp last year so much, an I find that by trying to round every race of the festival down to one horse you study harder, and usually end up with a couple.
One thing I’ve noticed is that quite a lot of people in the comp have done well (sometimes better) with their reserve picks, because I honestly think the competetive element of the comp makes you think harder about each race. I reckon if quite a few people were backing their reserves aswell as they would have done quite well.
To be fair there have been some brilliant selections and nap selections this week, not just treggys that I have thought were really good. Someone even put up the 100-1 2nd in the Martin Pipe today, which I was impressed with.
Hopefully next year I reckon I might change the comp round a bit though to make it more exciting.
March 14, 2009 at 05:45 #216237As a newcomer, this was the first comp I have entered on here, great fun. Thanks Bully for the hard work you must have done and the time it must have taken.
March 14, 2009 at 09:57 #216242thanks bully a great comp really enjoyed it.
congratulations treggy great tipping.** bully please dont get the hump with me but personally
i would leave the comp as it is thats just my opinionMarch 14, 2009 at 13:00 #216251Thanks Bullwark for taking the time, excellent stuff Treggy, no arguing that one, i thought i had you in my sights until you pulled out that 33-1.
These big meetings don`t really suit my way of betting as the market tends to be well informed, my only bet this week was Chapoturgeon as i thought their was plenty of play in his h`cap mark and more importantly he was stepping up in distance (so a rare winning Cheltenham)!
What i found very interesting was the Tote pools of between 200-500K per race, with a take out of 16% you would think their was some value to be had in those big fields,a couple of the lads tipped Something wells and it paid 48.70 on the Tote as opposed to 33-1 SP.
Ruby Walsh was fantastic, i`m not really his biggest fan as i always think he gets unshipped too easily, however, just dues, he was a star!
Hope you all had a good week!
March 14, 2009 at 13:53 #216262Well done Treggy, great win and many thanks Bully for your hard work in running the competition
March 14, 2009 at 14:57 #216281Thanks Everyone
Bit fuzzy headed this morning after celebrating courtesy of BF and PP
Wheels fell off Friday(knew I should have had my head in the formbook rather than watch MCFC) but thankfully I had sense to ringfence winnings up to that point.
Many thanks to Bulwark for running this comp – dont know how you found the time to do it and study the form, but I am sure everybody who took part appreciates it.
Hopefully back next year to defend my title:-)
TreggyMarch 14, 2009 at 16:37 #216313IT’S BEEN GREAT FUN .AND GLAD I WAS NOT LAST
March 14, 2009 at 17:47 #216324And there was me thinking I was having a great week!
Some fine tipping by the winner.Didn’t really get home myself after trying to keep up with the furious gallop.
Thanks to Bulwark for setting this up. Twas a good bit of craic.
March 14, 2009 at 22:59 #216386dont know how you found the time to do it and study the form,
I’ll use that as my excuse as to why I didnt win…. Just Kidding, it only took a couple of hours in the evening to sort out, and then into picking out some for the next day to be honest.
** bully please dont get the hump with me but personally
i would leave the comp as it is thats just my opinionWas thinking of having it the same, but maybe giving everyone a banker (X3 pts) and a next best (X2 pts), and one race per day where you can play reserve aswell as your main choice (such as big field handicaps).
Wouldnt mind getting an idea of what everyone would think of such changes.
March 15, 2009 at 01:58 #216415That was the most amazing tipping I’v ever seen, Treggy.
March 15, 2009 at 04:01 #216441Congrats to Treggy on some excellent tipping!
Many thanks to Bulwark for running this. It has been great fun is very much appreciated.
