I chose my bankers 10 months ago

Binocular 25/1 22/1 20/1 16/1 8/1
Master Minded 6/4
Kauto Star 7/1 5/1
over and above that I have What a Friend 14/1 Calgary Bay 40/1 Kalahari King 25/1 MoneyTrix 50/1 (Savers Crack AwayJack 40/1 Sizing Europe 8/1) Hurricane Fly 7/1 Ebadiyan 12/1 plus I backed the wrong one of Nicky’s in the world hurdle.
I wouldn’t swap the top 3 for anything especially MM, but them aside I really fancy What A Friend. I reallly liked him when he won the other months and backed him right after the race. PN said at the time he might go straight the to the fesitival which tells me he must think an awful lot of him. Couple of the lads reckon he might not be that good due to a weird head carriage but time will tell.
I’m certainly looking forward to Cheltenham to say the least.
January 18, 2009 at 19:12 #204947In 2004 Rooster Booster went off 11/8 for the Champion Hurdle but he was outstayed up the hill by Hardy Eustace.
Moscow Flyer was 5/6 for the Champion Chase but he unseated Barry four out.
Barracouda was 8/11 for the Stayers and was beaten into second by Iris’s Gift.
Best Mate won the Gold Cup at 8/11.
Binocular, Master Minded, Punchestowns and Denman are all justifiably short prices for their respective races this year but it would be no surprise if one or two of them were turned over.

I’m also a big What A Friend fan Fist. I have him at 14’s. Was very taken by him when he beat Ballyfitz. I also have Celestial Halo at 20’s watch out Binocular.

Just keep an e/w eye on "Albertas run" at 20/1 for this years Gold cup, he is the most progressive 2nd season chaser in the field, who
will only improve for the step up tp 31/4m, something "Kauto" wont do,
particularly if the "Machine" grinds the same figures per furlong as last year."Albertas" will be sitting and sitting, waiting to pounce up that hill,
like a "Chieftain Tank" stalking a "Tiger Tank"!! it wont be easy mind!January 18, 2009 at 20:49 #204963I chose my bankers 10 months ago

Blacker,
They dont call "Fist" the legend for nothing!January 18, 2009 at 23:23 #204989Its the cheltenham festival…no horse in any race is a banker! Its the day of the season for most horses so improvement is always likely from some and others are over the top. Having said that Master Minded is as close as you get. Then again, everything is relative to the odds in question fro a betting point of view. Will Master Minded win? Yes? Will I back him at 2-5 or whatever he is now…not a chance! He is probably 1-3 to get round in one piece.

Never a truer word was spoken. With trainers like PN, NH, AK, Ferdy and Jonjo around youn ever know what to expect next

Telll you what mate after 40 odd years of watching racing it wouldn’t suprise me if they were all turuned over…..except MM who could fall have two farts and still win
January 24, 2009 at 20:59 #206274There you go blacker Punchestowns beaten by Big Buck’s today. Still think he’s a certainty for the World Hurdle?
January 24, 2009 at 21:02 #206277The 8Ibs will make all the difference come March.
Punchestowns for me in the world hurdle.

I think the slow pace today should’ve suited Punchestowns far more than Big Buck’s. I’m not convinced Henderson’s horse will truely see out the trip in the World hurdle as they will surely go a much quicker pace than they did today. I wouldn’t want to be backing him personally.
January 24, 2009 at 21:11 #206283Bottler Johnson bearing down on the final hurdle at speed, nowhere to be seen again today
January 24, 2009 at 23:33 #206310Fists, I knew it.
You’re a softy and a sentimentalist, going for Kauto Star for the GC.
On the other hand, you were quite right for getting the 7/1 after last year’s race.
In retrospect, after Denman put up so much of a "domineering" performance, and Kauto Star put in a pathetic jumping performance and was never at the races, it is amazing how close KS came to D over the finishing line.

January 25, 2009 at 01:47 #206339I don’t really like backing horses at short odds antepost but the 7/2 I have about Kasbah Bliss looks a little better after today, although I thought Big Bucks was very impressive and will be a bigger danger come the day.
I also have everything crossed that Twiston Davies rediscovers some form as I stand to win a lot of money if Imperial Commander goes for, and wins the Ryanair. I still feel that he and probably Noland are the most likely winners. I don’t see Vor poy ustedes as a two and a half miler and Tidal Bay could win, but if he jumps like he has this season he won’t. Exotic Dancer is as always a potential fly in the ointment.
January 26, 2009 at 00:57 #206509I thought Tidal Bay ran well yesterday. It prefers better ground and a shorter trip and a mistake at the second aside, he didn’t jump too bad and was still travelling ok about 3 from home.
But an even bigger positive is that he has rock solid festival form. The fact he will be a working mans price helps!
