January 31, 2017 at 02:12 #1284916Yeah makes sense given he was outpaced in the Ryanair last year. RPR170 for the Thyestes! Interesting.

February 1, 2017 at 18:08 #1285192Backed 2 horses
Both entered in the spring juvenileTriumph hurdle
Dinaria des obeaux 16/1
Duca de thaix 25/1 NRNBDuca De Thaix
A 3-year-old gelding who has moved from France to Ireland, Duca De Thaix is now owned by Gigginstown. The son of Voix Du Nord ran four times over in France, three of which were AQPS flat races. Duca De Thaix finished 4th on his debut at Lion d’Angers in a race ran over 1m 3f, they clearly felt the son of Voix Du Nord had a lot of stamina as he went a very strong gallop near the front of the field, in the final furlong he just didn’t quite look to have the turn of foot to win the race and stayed on at one pace. The form from his debut race has worked out well and produced several winners. Duca De Thaix then finished second in his next AQPS flat race at Chateaubriant over 1m 4f, the horse who came 3rd in this race was ten lengths behind Duca De Thaix which highlights the front two looked a class above the field. This was proved next time out in Duca De Thaix’s third and final AQPS flat race at Fontainebleau where he won by a comfortable 5 lengths, this winning distance would have been even more but the winner was eased down roughly a furlong out which highlights just how comfortable a win this was for Duca De Thaix.
In Duca De Thaix’s fourth and final French race, he made his hurdling debut at Auteuil in a race for 3-year-old hurdling newcomers. Duca De Thaix won in a nice manner on his hurdling debut in which the gelding along with the close runner up Dame De Compagnie, were well clear to the rest of the field. For the most part, Duca De Thaix took well to jumping on his hurdling debut and did it with accuracy and efficiency, a few hurdles were jumped a tad scrappily but that’s to be expected with a hurdling debutant. The race was ran in typical Auteuil soft testing conditions, this is encouraging Duca De Thaix will enjoy the testing winter conditions over these shores, being a son of Voix Du Nord though should ensure he has ability to handle the firmer Spring festival conditions too, which was highlighted in his comfortable AQPS flat race win at Fontainebleau which was ran on good ground. It’s difficult to establish the form from Duca De Thaix’s hurdle race at this moment in time as the first three from this race have all moved from France, this does however highlight the buyers felt this was a race with talented prospects involved in it. Duca De Thaix is now only a novice hurdler this season having won last time out at Auteuil, so there is a chance the son of Voix Du Nord will be campaigned this season and if so, it will be in the juvenile hurdling division. He could do well in this sphere providing he settles quickly into new surroundings, however, Duca De Thaix looks the type who has stamina and may appreciate a trip further than juvenile hurdle races ran over the minimum distance. With that in mind and Gigginstown also being owners who give their horses time, they may give Duca De Thaix time to settle and start his season afresh the season after.

Ew 25/1
Looked to be going well off a low weight behind the French horse and Cantlow last time out. Only his 2nd start over the discipline. And expect more to come. Half the price with most other books and well supported today.February 1, 2017 at 23:40 #1285247Triumph hurdle
Dinaria des obeaux 16/1
I don’t know about your other one, Rocky, but I’m a tiny bit jealous of you getting the 16s.

a) he’d got up after running into the rails as a loose horse last week
b) he’d recover from that nasty looking incident even if he was on
c) if he would even be coming back for the Cross countryIf I hear he’s coming over, he’ll be in a few multis. Backed him last week so tracked him round and he was going beautifully behind the other French horse when unseating and off a low weight, looks a good value bet each way.
He’s sound and entered on Sunday, whether the x lintel at Cheltenham is the target I can only assume.
And apologies I pressed the wrong button as report instead of replyFebruary 2, 2017 at 14:02 #1285305I have asked SkyBet for a price on Henderson to have more winners than Mullins. Will post up here when (if) they give me a price. I think Nicky Henderson is going to have a blinding Cheltenham & Mullin’s a sea of seconds.
