That had Welsh National wriiten all over it for the first two – surprised they still ran LBAR after all that rain they had today, hopefully that will not have soured her for the rest of the campaign.
November 2, 2019 at 15:58 #1473743I still remember Ballyoptic taking that crashing fall at Wetherby in a hurdle race a couple of years ago, so I always feel uneasy watching him.
November 2, 2019 at 16:02 #1473745Two grand national types fight out a slog , greteaux says he was concerned about the ground before the start but Johnson said it was OK …..I hope both don’t come to regret that , hope Tizzards can see now that EE is a national horse , he still misses a jump though
November 2, 2019 at 16:02 #1473747Thanks, Bobby, even though it makes me gloomy to see a potential champ run and jump like that. Greatrex is a man I’ve never been confident in and I’m increasingly convinced something went wrong on that Irish trip. Wish I knew what it was.
November 2, 2019 at 16:07 #1473748Apologies, DBR … well done to you. Good call.
November 2, 2019 at 16:23 #1473749WD DBR, great selection
November 3, 2019 at 10:16 #1473827Thanks! Another fine win by Ballyoptic, quite convincingly as well. Maybe they should go to Ireland for the Savills Chase this Christmas? I don’t think he got the pace for Kempton and with his new mark probably in the 160s it will be a huge ask to go to the Welsh National.
November 3, 2019 at 10:49 #1473831Nice call DBR
I’ll be keeping an eye on Molly The Dolly, she was travelling very
nicely round the outside before she came down at the 11th, I think
there’s a good race to be had with her.November 3, 2019 at 12:02 #1473836Fair play to you DBR, Soon as i got up for work yesterday morning and the rain was coming i knew my bet of LBAR was done!
November 3, 2019 at 12:15 #1473839Good job anyone who even considered the winner! One of the first ones I dismissed! Shows what I know.
Aso ran an absolute screamer and deserves his place in these graded chases. Definitely sees it out and I suspect he’ll be given a Betfair Chase entry which I’ll be very keen to see.
Molly The Dolly was running a very respectable race before coming down which did suprise me as she’s usually so good over her fences. Ladbroke Trophy and Grand National bids hopefully beckon.
La Bague Au Roi ran a stinker and it’s hard to assess her. Hopefully see her back to her best before long, perhaps on better ground? Maybe a drop back in trip?
November 3, 2019 at 13:33 #1473850It will a shame if LBAR’s poor run puts off British trainers from having runners at the Dublin racing festival. I suspect it will.
November 3, 2019 at 15:46 #1473874DBR, it looks like you had a good day yesterday.
Ballyoptic was the only one I didn’t fancy for this. Well done.
