Someone on a forum has put the following:

Channel 4 has seen a dramatic drop in ratings for its racing coverage since a new contractor took over. The Sun’s racing correspondent Claude Duval says today that the peak audience for Champions Day fell from 2.2 million a year ago when the BBC was covering it to 733,000 last Saturday. The Derby saw a drop of 1.1 million this year after it switched from the BBC. Duval says C4’s claim that they were ”really pleased” with the Championship Day viewing figures ”beggars belief’

As The Sun is subscription I cannot verify the above but for Champions Day to lose over a million isn’t good we all know BBC-1 can be a wallpaper channel that people just stick with but avid racing fans would easily be able to change channels.

    733,000 is not good.
