Is it just me or does anyone else feel less than enthused by these games ?
I mean no disrespect to the participants but sorry…

I was actually quite enthused beforehand, looking forward to the Dressage, in which we have good gold medal chances.
But they have not shown any dressage at all. Not a whisker or a nostril of a horse. It’s had an occasional mention in passing, but no footage from Greenwich. Very disappointed with Ch4

I did catch a segment on the news, feauring Lee Pearson, who missed out on a 10th Gold medal to an Australian woman.

I also saw an Arazi style victory for Richard Whitehead in his running blades, winning the 200m, coming from last to first. He looked like a 100/1 shot in the first part of the race. A must see.

Re: Ellie Simmonds. Saw her win on the news too. Brilliant.
Those two enthused me.

September 2, 2012 at 20:44 #411800I was at the athletics this morning and it is one of the best days sport I have ever attended, and that includes most race meetings.
A fantastic atmosphere, great sport and every competitor doing his or her best no matter how good or bad they were.
An appreciative crowd – and nobody jeering the "also-rans"

I was at that same session (Sunday AM) and can concur with every word you say.

Trust the coverage of Sophie Christiansen’s gold medal-winning performance yesterday was a step in the right direction? Shame Lee Pearson couldn’t add to it this afternoon.

September 4, 2012 at 08:15 #411972I had a second day in the Olympic Sport yesterday watching the so called "minority" sports.
The only one which did little to enthuse me was Goalball, which as a spectator sport is as exciting as watching paint dry but that doesn’t devalue or demean what the participants do.
I had tickets to watch two games of Goalball but I have to admit I waved the white flag after the first – which is better than many as about 30% of the crowd left at half-time in the first game.
Then it was off to the seven-a-side football which was a difficult match for a Brit to watch as with it being between Argentina and Iran which one do you support? I have to say it was as entertaining as any other football match I’ve seen and I really could not figure out what the disabilities were. It was one sided though with an 8-1 scoreline – to Iran (now that was unexpected for me)
Next up was the tennis and I have to say that was absolutely riveting. I watched a "local derby" women’s doubles between Columbia and Chile and you couldn’t ask for a tighter, more exciting match with three exceptionally close sets. There were no grunts, no histrionics and some of the rallies were very long with the ball flying around the court.
Finally a session of wheelchair basketball and although the match was fairly one sided it was exciting with no prisoners being taken and it got quite chippy at times – there was no way it could be described as dull or uninteresting.
September 4, 2012 at 12:29 #412011The truth is that CH4 coverage of the Paralympics does not come close to meeting the levels of endeavour of the competitors.
September 4, 2012 at 16:07 #412031I agree re Channel 4 coverage.
While I have watched some of the Athletics & Swimming on the dedicated channels (red button or Sky 451/2/3 – no adverts for one), every time I flick to Channel 4 itself in the evening, it always seems to be adverts or people in the studio yapping (yawn!).
It’s the sport we want to see, not talking heads talking about sport in a studio!
