Not a race that I’ve had much joy in over the years, perhaps down to the fact that I tend to go with a louder one. With that in mind, I really should concentrate at the head of the market, but I’m sticking with Stratum. Had some decent results from him, and a few flops as well (poor last time).
I’m holding out hope that a return here, where he has a great record, will see him in his best light, but obviously a big ask too.
Princess Zoe also fairly interesting, for all I get it that one of the market principals will no doubt prevail

October 10, 2022 at 14:12 #1617997Trueshan 7-4
October 10, 2022 at 16:13 #1618006Trueshan walks this at his best but was a long way below that last time. I wouldn’t be getting involved at short prices.
October 10, 2022 at 18:13 #1618025I’m surprised Trueshan is even declared – after Doncaster he sounded like he was putting him away for the year.

Was 5’s in the Irish St Leger against Kyprios and Hamish, well beaten in 5th but last off the bridle. Has improved with age and a fast pace here could see involvedGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
October 11, 2022 at 21:36 #1618159Fascinating selection from Nathan.
Eldar Eldarov isn’t certain to run and I’ve got my doubts about Trueshan.
Alan King isn’t a bad trainer, but he isn’t Aidan O’Brien and opportunities to win big races are few and far between for him.
I’m certain this influences such trainers – you can’t get a prize-money percentage by having your horse stood in its box and every runner you have is a free bet (you’re not paying the entry fees and travel costs etc).
King sounded like Trueshan was done for the season after Doncaster yet here he is entered up again.
Hmmm.
And talented though Waterville is, winning an Irish Cesarewitch off 99 isn’t exactly as difficult as taking on stayers rated 115+.
He’s a very short price on what he’s actually achieved.
With doubts about the front three in the betting I can see why Nathan likes his 33/1 sort out.

Hope the rain comes.

Trueshan ran so poorly last time, he didn’t look happy at all, quite likely goodwood has effected him
Certainly happy to take him on
October 14, 2022 at 13:30 #1618390Seems ripe for an upset here. Stratum seems a decent bet.
October 14, 2022 at 16:19 #1618427Why is waterville 7/2?
He should be 16/1+ surely?
Has 16lb to find with trueshan
11lb to find with quickthorn
10lb to find with eldar eldarov
6lb to find with coltraneOctober 14, 2022 at 22:51 #1618469Theory on quickthorns run in the cadran
He sulked when not allowed to front run and bowl along
I’m assuming they changed tactics because they didn’t think he’d get home with the usual aggressive tactics over 2m4f on that ground
They will surely go back to his usual tactics tomorrow
Coltrane and quickthorn are the value
I will likely back both tomorrow
October 15, 2022 at 07:42 #1618494The Waterville thing makes me laugh a little bit. Read the RP spotlight comment for Waterville versus the comment for Trawlerman. Waterville having had 6 starts and won a valuable handicap last time is an ‘exciting prospect’ and yet Trawlerman having only had 9 starts himself and also won a valuable handicap last time ‘needs a fair bit more’. Trawlerman officially is rated 1lb lower than Waterville
.October 15, 2022 at 08:05 #1618497Age of winners since it became group race status and run at Ascot in 2011 has been 4-8.
October 15, 2022 at 13:14 #1618529Trueshan, Quickthorn, Coltrane
Combination forecast
As you say the youngsters get the weight but struggle against the older horses.
It would be a cracker if Coltrane ran well.October 15, 2022 at 13:20 #1618532It’s two selections for me in Quickthorn at 12-1, and Coltrane at 9-1. I thought that both of them were fair prices, and I just couldn’t split them
