Mabs Cross is a horse I’ve been keen on for some time. He’s an honest
reliable sort who has mixed it with the best in top races and held his own quite
well, if not winning as often as I’d like. Finished just over 2l behind Blue Point
and Battash here in the Kings Stand. Although I’ve read to the contrary, I’ve thought
for some time that he looks like he would improve for the extra furlong. He was well
back in the Derrinstown Stud over 5 at the Curragh, but was doing his best in the
final furlong and ran on to take 4th. The same last time out in the L’Abbaye on very
soft ground, where again he was well back but “kept on from over 1 out, nearest finish”
was the description given. I took the 33/1 ante post, but he can still be got at that price
4 places. I think he’s a very decent e/w shout and Gerald Mosse, who gets on well with
him, loves coming over for these big races.October 19, 2019 at 13:18 #1470847I played libisa breeze and mabs cross e.w , wide open so small stakes , looking forward to watching

October 19, 2019 at 14:03 #1470864Thanks all, absolutely delighted with that, bloody love that horse.
October 19, 2019 at 19:25 #1470924Well done VTC, he’s certainly an Autumn horse, hope you had enough on to retire there!!
Pretty awful Group 1 again though. Disappointing end for Advertise. Real shame he’s not coming back next season. Hello Youmzain and The Tin Man should really have gone on that so the form of that Haydock Sprint Cup is very much questionable as I thought at the time.
It’s been a really enjoyable sprint season this one, but a really open one for next year now it looks like.
October 19, 2019 at 21:07 #1470933Thanks Frenchy, not quite retiring, but my biggest winner of the season by far, and it’s a pretty fancy Kebab for dinner tonight.
October 19, 2019 at 21:35 #1470939He ended up winning about as cosily as you will ever see a 33/1 shot win
And did that despite meeting bad trouble in running at one stage
October 20, 2019 at 00:40 #1470956Brilliant Bobby
well done he made it look easy.
That’s set you up for the upcoming jumps season I bet.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 20, 2019 at 11:27 #1470974Hope you enjoyed the kebab Bobby, lovely stuff.
