Did that well for a horse with no turn of foot 🙂
If only people had seen the York sectionals, Joe.
York showed he had a turn of foot for a fact.Value Is EverythingOctober 21, 2017 at 16:13 #1322765Must of been full of himself as he actually reared up when being saddled in the saddling box beforehand – can’t quite believe it is Dettori’s first Champion Stakes either
October 21, 2017 at 16:14 #1322766Last minute thoughts to add to what I’ve said in the thread..
I think Brametot has a cracking chance and am happy with my bet. Had a tiny bet as well on Cliffs of Moher as well at 9s a few minutes ago.
I would be stunned if Barney Roy gets anywhere near the front three.
Surely Highland reel won’t handle the ground?
At the start of this thread I fancied Cracksman, now I think he will be outpaced at the turn in.
Brametot for me
That’s why you should never change your mind. Feel like a moron for switching from my original view at the very start of this thread. Kicking myself
Well done winners. That was seriously impressive
I did try to warn you mate 😉
always go with your gut
You did indeed.
Well done Judge. Knew you’d backed him

York showed he had a turn of foot for a fact.No sectionals needed, Mark, just eyes.
October 21, 2017 at 16:16 #1322769Cracksman 7-2 looks huge to me. I reckon he might win by half the track.
I make him an 1-2 shot.

York showed he had a turn of foot for a fact.If only sectionals meant something eh?
Congrats all who backed him, really was sensational today
October 21, 2017 at 16:18 #1322772Cracksman by far the best backed horse of the day. People really are taking all rates!
why is it the same price it was on oddschecker then
Oddschecker goosed (again) today Judge. Prices not updating properly.
October 21, 2017 at 16:22 #1322774Well done, Judge and all Cracksman backers.
October 21, 2017 at 16:22 #1322775I think Cracksman today showed his hand and showed he was a monster- but he did rather tip us off at York- the sectionals there were amazing and of course plenty of the tipsters said he beat “nothing” but the eye told a different story. He was hugely impressive. it doesn’t matter about the distance for me, it’s about how quick you are and nothing else running in this race could have made the huge mid race move that Cracksman made at York.
Some of the previews of this race were fairly clueless with the youtube racing post preview tipsters lining up to berate the horse. I think sometimes people don’t believe their eyes and read too much into the form, or just think of ways to look at ways to take a horse on. I did genuinely believe that this horse should have been odds on.
I think what this race showed as well is what Joni has been saying all along- the freak that was frankel has given his horses a huge genetic head start over their rivals- I don’t see how you can resist that stride.
A lot of people will be talking up next years arc as Enable vs Cracksman but for me it’s a one horse race. I don’t think he’d murder her as she’s a very high class horse but don’t see how any horse could beat that, unless they bring Frankel back out of retirement.
October 21, 2017 at 16:28 #1322778Dettori just said the horse he rode today was totally different from the one he rode at Epsom, Gosden on record as saying the horse is 17kg heavier now than at the start of the year. Neither would be drawn on who was the better horse.
Shout out to Highland Reel who ran a blinder on ground he historically has never performed well on – sets him up nice for BC Turf.
Out of interest, if Poet’s Word (rated 119) has run close to his best and he was beaten 7L, I just wonder what rating this performance will get?

Cracksman v Enable looks far more likely than Enable taking on Winx.
For me, it depends on the track and trip.
Coronation Cup at epsom.. Enable beats Cracksman.
Prince of Wales at Ascot on good ground.. it’s gonna be very close. I’ll get back to you on that.
King George at Ascot on good to soft… as above. I’ll get back to you.
October 21, 2017 at 16:32 #1322780Cracksman’s Timeform provisional rating for today’s race is…
Value Is EverythingOctober 21, 2017 at 16:36 #1322782Wow that was amazing, he never gave the legion of favourite backers a moments worry. I’ve got Cracksman as running to a mark of 129 there. I’d be interested to see how he’ll get on next year on a quicker surface at this trip and hopefully we will see him take on Enable but I’d back against it ever happening unfortunately.

If Enable is 134, call iy 137 adding a fillies 3 lb allowance, what do you think Cracksman would be?
Value Is EverythingOctober 21, 2017 at 16:42 #1322788Not sure Cracksman really needs it as soft as today (he just handles it better than most), for me he is only going to get stronger physically/mentally with another year on his back and I am not sure Enable will be able to deal with that – this year she would have had the clear advantage of being mentally stronger and more streetwise.
If they do clash, it will be in the King George as Oppenheimer is old school and wants a KG victory that he missed with Golden Horn – wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t clash in the Arc at all (Enable to defend her Arc crown with Cracksman back to repeat in the Champion Stakes).
October 21, 2017 at 16:49 #1322791Yep, I don’t think the ground matters to Cracksman. He’d accelerate even more impressively on good ground. He has a fine, long, ground-grabbing stride and, vitally, a huge appetite now for racing and winning.
GT, I think Timeform will need to put him alongside Enable now on something like 137 and I wouldn’t by any means rule out a p attachment to that.

After a quick look at the form – and it could change yet – Timeform have put a provisional rating up of… (drum roll)… 138.
