Ricci doesn’t get a say in where his horses go. Mullins is the ultimate trainer for a reason.

I think Nico looked a bag of nerves on Constitution Hill today and he paid the price for it. Didn’t appear to be confident going into any hurdles and ended up on the deck because of it.

The bookies have gone from worrying about a acca to needing extra satchels …

Presumably Lucky Place is a good thing for the stayers now having beaten her twice this season? LOL

He might be Hughsie but he,s looking a bit daft just now … Scott was happy to let the owner decide and he,s now got the ultimate hurdle prize , wouldn’t surprise me if more Ricci horses go elsewhere over time … He won’t play second fiddle forever

Don’t think Jeremy Scott knows what to do with himself.

” she’ll almost certainly be the lowest rated Champion Hurdle winner in the history of the race”

And won the most memorable edition of the race for years and years. They’ll replay this for decades. So what that the winner isn’t a 175 rated good thing?

Sport is supposed to be drama.

I hope State Man now gets the credit he’s deserved for so long.

I’ve always said he was as good as Hurricane Fly yet most talked about him as if he was just some second rate best of a bad bunch.

He’s a phenomenal racehorse which just makes what Constitution Hill did 2 years ago look even more impressive. I actually think he was even going better than CH today when the latter fell.

Did not have that outcome on my bingo card. Well done to the Golden Ace team for having the courage to go for the big one.

Pleased both horses are OK, especially State Man. I feared the worst when he turned over on his neck.

Such a pity for connections because he looked better than ever. They haven’t had much luck recently, with Sir Gino as well. Maybe he can win for them at Punchestown.

Great for Jeremy Scott and for James Owen and the Gredley family. Both could have gone for “easier” targets but their ambition was rewarded.

Elite level racing should be the best taking on the best, not taking easy options because a trainer wants to add to his Cheltenham tally and an owner wants to stand in the winners enclosure.

The owner can override the trainer’s suggestion if they are not on board with their advice and I am not sure that Ricci took much convincing to swerve the race.

Ricci also doesn’t really have the same depth of firepower at Closutton now that he has had in past years, so a G1 Cheltenham Festival winner (no matter the level of competition) is probably more cherished now than ever, lets face it, outside of Lossiemouth & Gaelic Warrior (who seems to be regressing based on his form this season) I struggle to name any other top or potential G1 horses that Ricci has.

Once again the Mares race has detracted from the quality of the Champion Hurdle field – maybe a G1 winning mare needs to carry a penalty if subsequently contesting the Mares race to try and make the race less inviting for the potential Champion Hurdle types and give the other less talented mares a chance to have their moment in the sun.

Missed it as working but well done Golden Ace connections for giving it a go.
Hope both fallers come out of the race OK. Rematch at Punchestown with Lossie??

Mullins will find a bollocks reason to just run one of his …. Likely 1 will go to Aintree
