If Medermit isn’t good enough then surely Go Native isn’t? ? ? Medermit should have won the Supreme Novices last season, and would have, if he hadn’t had his momentum blocked at the last.

He has one hell of an engine, don’t worry about that.

    You’re clutching Gord! :D

Aragorn,i cant pretend that Celestial Halo hasn"t dissapointed his supporters and i can only hope Team Nicholls can revitalise him,my posts showed i expected defeat on Sunday, just not a defeat like that!!Cheltenham is his course,gd/sft ground and a repeat of his Wincanton run will see my new shiny 20/1 voucher being cashed in for a profit! But because of the doubting thomas"s of this world it is wise practice to find a horse to support my Ante-Post wagers on Celestial, just in case! Medermit is that horse,he has improved from his first run at Cheltenham in November to now and is the sort to improve again from now to Cheltenham in March!Solwhit wont improve a pound, because he has been making hay, whilst the ground has been soft!I am 100% convinced Go Native will Cruise past him, which makes me extremely confident that Medermit will beat him,he flew up the hill in the best form guide to date, the Supreme novice hurdle! 16/1 is a solid e/w bet! Clutching? yes I"m clutching a 16/1 voucher for my super sub!

Have to agree about you clutching Gord….Medermit just doesn’t look good enough. He has fighting qualities but does he have the engine to get him into the race?

Do me one favour Fist and watch the re-run of the Supreme Novice hurdle!Watch both Medermit and Go Native from the start and see how different their journeys are, bearing in mind there was nothing between them in the early parts of the race! You will also see the Arkle winner in there, going the longest way round of all! Its not called Supreme for nothing!

Good old Gaz! What is amazing is the fact that Go Natives price has collapsed, 25"s into 6"s and has been for ages.Where as Medemit has been silly prices 50"s 40"s and even now 16"s and 14"s,still over twice the price and yet his form is at least on a par with Go Native, who just so happened to beat Solwhit!!! If you haven"t got on at 40/1 you need to have a serious word with yourself! :D

I’m looking at Go Native and Khyber Kim for this. Solwhit lacks the Festival experience that 13 of the last 15 winners all had. Only Alderbrook and Make A Stand were lacking in that department. Solwhit strikes me as a Mac’s Joy type horse who dominates over in Ireland but isn’t quite good enough over here. Ironically Mac’s Joy posted exactly the same form figures as Solwhit’s done this season (1311) and won the same 2 Grade 1s that Solwhit’s won on his last 2 starts, but Mac’s Joy lacked Cheltenham experience and finished 5th.

Solwhit may have the same form figures and run in the same races but, for me, the similarities end there. Macs Joy was a fast horse for a hurdler, more of a cruiser and quickener than a grinder like Brave Inca. He was always in with a chance of outpacing his rivals off a slow pace or on a speed track but these types are always vulnerable at Cheltenham given the usual fast pace and the stiff finish.

Solwhit finds plenty off the bridle and although I daresay he won’t be last off the bridle in the CH he is a certainty to be flying up the hill. He was a convincing winner at Aintree last season so he’s not just dominated in Ireland – he’s travelled over the water and won.

I’m sticking with the 2 "finishers" in the race. Solwhit and Zaynar – if one of them doesn’t win then I’ll be distressed !

Unless Dunguib shows up Solwhit looks "home and hosed"

before Xmas I’d narrowed it down to Solwhit, Go Native Zaynar and Kyber KIm; Celestial Halo’s run devalues Khyber Kim’ form, so now it’s a 3-horse race

    :o

I just wondered cos he hasn’t been officially ruled out yet I guess…. They are obviously going to give him every possible chance, slim though it may be.

Would put an interesting twist on procedings now that most of us have assumed he won’t make it….

“We have our own procedure for treating this type of strain that we’ve had a good success-rate with over the last few years, but there is no quick fix. He will have to stand in for seven to 10 days first, and then he will start to do a bit of walking.

It will be six weeks before we know where we stand, so that will leave things tight for some of his intended targets this season. Unfortunately, that’s horses for you, and we’ve just got to deal with it.”

We should know within the next week/fortnight if that’s the case. Very doubtful I would suggest.

Agreed, doubtful is probably an understatement.

I’m almost surprised he isn’t. The bookies trimmed him before the race  . Some serious urine extracting going on.

I think Binocular will be in peak form for the race next month, don’t think he has been fully fit all season. I expect him to go very close, jumps hurdles as if they weren’t there.
