I got Ashley Brook running to a mark of 161 which is eight pounds below his optimum rating.
I suppose it depends on your viewpoint and how much you value handicap / speed ratings.
Wasn’t a disasterous run by any means just don’t think it was near his best.
Interestingly the RPR for that run is only 152.

I don’t think sporazene will win but i think it could be a good each way bet Well chief should easily win based on the Game spirit but sporazene was going well in that race till he made a bad mistake. Plus Voy Por Ustedes and Newmill have fell recently that may affect confidence. Dempsey also has jumping problems and could easily fall and bring a few down. Monets Garden isn’t a definite runner so sporazene could easily get placed if things are in his favour on the day.
February 20, 2007 at 16:15 #29381It’ll be too hectic for Sporazene, he’ll fall in the Champion… I’d save your money.

Its hardly a convincing argument is this. Newmill won last time, and if you watch the video of last years race you will see it is a very good jumper. And Voy Por Ustedes is a safe jumper too, he actually only unseated his rider and didn’t fall so I don’t see how that will affect its confidence.
And Dempsey might fall and bring down a few? PMSL. Sorry Danny but seriously. IF Dempsey falls, and that is no certainty to happen, it has as much chance of bringing down your horse as anyone else’s and even if it did bring down a horse its hardly likely to clean house is it?
Newmill for me, I think it is an underestimated horse, that has been prepared for Cheltenham. I would also say that it is a safe jumper and I don’t think it will fall.
February 20, 2007 at 17:53 #29383Fair point there are a lot of ifs and buts with sporazene but who knows what will happen it’s racing

The thing that marks The Racing Forum out as different from other forums is that people are willing to accept criticsm and not turn it into a personal slanging match.
Good luck with your bet Danny, but it’s not for me.
