Un Des Sceaux to hit the target as the bullet will not be dodged.
The biggest danger to the Mullins horse will be if the trainer cant keep him safe and sound. He’s fast and just does’nt stop, any horse trying to lay up with him will get burnt out. He’s learnt to settle not that it seems to make a difference if he does’nt. After the Arkle in the winners enclosure he was still full of beans with his handler trying in vein to keep a tight hold of him.
As a worthy champion as Dodging Bullets is you cant help but feel that the division fell apart with Sprinter Sacre and Sire De Grugy both a very pale shadow of their former selves. Somersby is a decent enough yardstick who is a consistent sort but falls short at the top level and his proximity to DB wouldnt be causing too many sleepless nights across the channel.
Not an inspiring selection I admit but when your only backing one horse for a year value isnt everything.Blackbeard to conquer the World
November 9, 2015 at 00:02 #1220827Great to see Simonsig back in action.
Hopefully he can return to a high level again, looking likely to be the Tingle Creek next.Blackbeard to conquer the World
November 10, 2015 at 19:45 #1221046Un De Sceaux lit up the two mile novice division last season, but from a betting point of view, at the moment at least, the ship has sailed.
Looking through the other horses in the market, there’s very little that appeals. Defy Logic was one who could have shook him up given his all guns blazing style but sadly he was recently fatally injured on the gallops.
There is one horse who appeals as excellent value in this race: Sizing Granite at 25/1. Comparing his form to Un De Sceaux’s from the back end of last season and he doesn’t have as much to find as you’d think. While Un De Sceaux appears to be settling better than he used to, it’s hard to argue that he was improving throughout his novice chasing campaign. Add to this the prospect f the ground being a bit quicker on the Wednesday and he could be vulnerable.
Sizing Granite made a pleasing return last weekend. The bare form is a million miles from winning a Champion Chase but I’d expect him to take a big step forward. He’s at his best on quick ground and is a typically progressive Henry de Bromhead horse.
November 18, 2015 at 09:42 #1222140Sprinter Sacre opened up a tin of worms.
However Dodging Bullets has had a slight setback, SS will face tougher challenges and as good as he was the other day it’s great when you are travelling but it’s when the nuts and bolts of the horse gets tested in the Champion race at Champion testing speed and stamina that we will see just how well Henderson has put the horse back together. Tommy’s horse Sizing Granite is a good call and quicker going will bring him into the equation but for me UDS will handle the going and I don’t foresee it being a problem. It was quicker conditions for him over in Ireland and he ran more freely than he did at Cheltenham but still had so much left in the tank as you’d expect from a 1/10 horse if Cameron had got to him that day or Gods Own at Cheltenham I’m convinced UDS would have taken off.Blackbeard to conquer the World

On paper the thought of him not winning would be ludicrous. HOWEVER, and it’s a big un, no sooner than the first fence was *pinged* I turned to the girl indoors, who knows not a thing about racing, and said ‘He’s back!’. It wasn’t about the distance he won, his greatest weapon has always been his jumping. He jumped on Sunday 90% like the old Sprinter Sacre. Barring injuries/illness the old boy wins this at 10. Un De Sceaux only gives him something to run at.
November 18, 2015 at 23:36 #1222234It was great to see SS back, but not sure if the bare form is any btter than his 2nd to Special Tiara in the Celebration chase at Sandown; Somersby + Mr Mole then some lengths back at level weights. So good to see him win again, but a long way from being a threat to UDS

Is Somersby not a decent yardstick? while we don’t think of him as top notch, he performs at Cheltenham. placed in the last 2 champion chases, he was 2nd last year by around 1.5lengths. Sprinter just beat that same horse at the same course (not the same time of year I grant you) off level weights by 14 lengths.
Of course that doesn’t account for UDS – its going to be mouthwatering seeing the two of them go at. I love UDS, one of my favourite horses but I think you can tell by my username where my allegiances lie.
What really impressed me on was his jumping, it was back. He used to jump horses into the ground. That jump down the back 3or4 out to take him to the front was breathtaking. Also coming to the last where it looked like he might tire Nico shook him up a little and away he went, powering up the hill to extend the lead. On better ground with a run behind him he in entitled to improve.
One last point. I was at Nickys yard at the end of Jan 2015 and I was a little surprised looking at sprinter. It wasn’t the horse I was face to face with at the winners enclosure at Punchestown. The definition around is neck and shoulders was lacking – he didn’t look like the beast I remembered at Punchestown. I have the photos of both still on my phone and they don’t look like the same horse. The horse we seen this weekend had that muscle and definition back. I think its clear they have him in much better shape.November 20, 2015 at 10:32 #1222381Accepted KSS, but still puts him 5 lengths behind Special Tiara, not the standard of the old SS
November 20, 2015 at 21:06 #1222441Mullins cant hack the bullsh!t.
He’s toying with the idea of sending UDS over early for the tingle creek to wipe out the rivals before Cheltenham.“Un De Sceaux has come forward really well in the past couple of weeks and we’re looking at starting him off in the Tingle Creek,” he wrote.
”The alternative is the Hilly Way Chase at Cork on the following day, but we’re leaning towards the Tingle Creek for him.”

November 20, 2015 at 21:37 #1222445brilliant that UDS goes!
I don’t think Sprinter will go to that, meeting UDS on soft ground only a few weeks after his win will do him no favours.
I expect hendo to send Simonsig which will atleast give the race a bit of interest.
November 21, 2015 at 14:20 #1222607Rich Ricci knows Vautour is a Queen Mother Champion chase horse this season not a Gold cup horse..14/1 wont last after todays questionable stamina lacking performance for 31/4m.TAPK has taken the 15’s on the machine.

How do I sleep at night Nath? You certainly wont after todays mishap with Yo horse! Sorry pal but you are on the wrong horse.
December 27, 2015 at 16:41 #1227407You sleep like a king Gord, I’d imagine with a fluffy leopard print eye mask covering your foresight.
I’ve just woke up from my mid afternoon snooze, work hard, sleep hard that’s my motto. Nobody likes to see their horse hit the deck and it happened at the time Ruby was getting a breather into him and was ready to go again but in doing so it will keep him odds against now right up until the festival and I’ll keep chipping away for as long as he is odds against. Sprinter and SDG both ran a great race and fantastic to watch but the proximity of Valtat does not trouble my horse.
The one and only niggle and slight doubt for my horse is Vautour, not that he would beat UDS but if he does go Champion Chase route I wouldn’t think there was room for the two of them and their running style in the same race. The plot certainly thickens as a horse as good as Vautour shouldn’t be going for a micky mouse race that is the Ryanair.
I feel another hitler video coming on.Blackbeard to conquer the World
December 27, 2015 at 16:55 #1227411Nath me old Sausage buddy,if anyone other than the legend himself had been telling the world Vautour is this years QMCC winner we’d all laugh.Trouble is its comments like that, that make me the legend I am.When I sleep at night I tuck my crystal balls into a velvet clad box before slipping my fluffy leopard print eye mask over my crown and dream about Kylie Minogue straddling my Schlong.I sometimes think I was put here for a purpose. ‘Vautour’ 3/1 with a run now but 10/1 still available until I take it all.
I’ll meet up with Rich Ricci again in Leeds in February, thats when we will announce to the world ‘Vautour’ goes for the QMCC…He’ll listen to me this year unlike last year when I said he’d be stupid not to let ‘Annie Power’ rule the world hurdle…Silly Sausage he was!December 27, 2015 at 17:00 #1227413Shame about that misunderstanding with Ruby, as he’s a fine jumper, and there appears to be no real opposition -unless they run AR Mad :) -. Surprised to see him pushed out to 7/4
December 27, 2015 at 17:12 #1227417Ladbrokes were 2/1 Joe in between UDS hitting the deck and the race at Kempton.
An over-reaction still at 7/4 and I’m happy to keep chipping away and he’s only that price as the bookies don’t know what the feck is happening with regard Vautour.Blackbeard to conquer the World

It’s still another fall on the CV. Why did Walsh restrain him? He reduced a ten length lead to about two. Had he been clear surely he wouldn’t have felt the need to go for something that big. Not a misunderstanding just pilot error as far as I could see.
