I can’t believe Queen’s Gamble was shortened to 10-1 co-favourite for this after her romp yesterday. She’s obviously a talented filly but surely Messrs Mullins and Elliott have at least twenty better horses between them at home.
Knowing which of the Irish battalions will be the best at this stage is nigh-on impossible, but Quais De Paris got a favourable mention in Willie’s stable tour the other day, so I’ve taken the 20s.
November 13, 2022 at 08:50 #1622900Does Mullins even know which is his best …it’s a lottery on the day never mind 4 months prior ….
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
November 13, 2022 at 09:20 #1622905I’ve never been big on hanging on the every word of any individual – Chezza is far too narcissistic for any of that deferential malarkey – so the whole gossip/inside info/stable tour quote thing has never been my bag.
I prefer to rely on what I can see with my own two eyes watching races and reading race times and other stats in the form book.
I have never had an ante-post bet on the Champion Bumper and I seldom have a bet on it at all.
But I find the endless fascination it holds for others fascinating in itself and I shall follow this thread with great interest.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"November 13, 2022 at 09:55 #1622909The last 4 winners have all run to rprs North of 128 on bumper debut
And have all hit 130+ at some point before the race
Something to keep an eye on as the season progresses
November 13, 2022 at 10:02 #1622912Now these are the kind of independently-observed stats I like and can relate to.
Many thanks, FF, I shall view results with an eye on those benchmark numbers going forwards.

Barry The Butcher 16-1November 14, 2022 at 23:27 #1623146Just me that was really taken by the Sherwood mare then?
I don’t know off the top of my head the last 5yo Filly to win the race but personally I think 10/1 is a very fair price at this point.
She’s absolutely trounced a decent field on Saturday and as Ian says above, I’d rather go on what I see than what I’m hearing about horses who haven’t even left the yard of Mullins yet.
What’s the entry rules of this again? I have a voice in the back of my head telling me there’s a minimum or maximum amount of runs required to qualify? The same voice is also telling me to set fire to the local orphanage though so it may not always be worth listening to.
November 15, 2022 at 02:20 #1623166I believe quai de Paris may be going hurdling despite what Willie said in his stable tour
Queens gamble got an RPR of 118 for her win so will need to improve a good bit still to be winning a champion bumper
Willie and Gordon have won the last 6 renewals of this race with 3 winners each (sir gerhard has mullins next to his name but he’d been with Gordon all season before CPS moved their horses)
I’d be loath to look away from those two stables myself at this stage
November 15, 2022 at 05:19 #1623172“Willie and Gordon have won the last 6 renewals”
It could happen again, though Henry De Bromhead almost never runs a Champion Bumper horse, instead choosing the hurdling route. However BTB is due to make his bumper debut end of November according to HDB’s stable tour so he may have one this season to have a go with. I will be watching with interest to see if he shows the promise/ability that his point to point indicated.
December 4, 2022 at 19:01 #1625852Chapeau De Soleil got beat today but it was a farce of a race
He led, they crawled, had his head cocked to the side, turned into a sprint, he went from first to last in a moment of strides before staying on for 2ndGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
December 5, 2022 at 00:12 #1625888Yeah I watched that Nathan, absolute farce is the perfect way to describe it, no idea how that all happened, like it set the slowest gallop then like you said somehow fell into last turning for home before looking like he flew home – maybe the horse couldn’t pick up quickly enough on that heavy looking ground?
Proper weird sh*t
December 19, 2022 at 15:39 #1627450A lot of confidence for Blizzard of Oz now so I’ve had a bit on at 16s before he (hopefully) wins.
December 19, 2022 at 15:41 #1627452I never thought I’d see the day when a racehorse was named after an Ozzy Osbourne band.
Come on, Blizzard Of Oz!

December 26, 2022 at 15:51 #1628291I wasn’t too downbeat with that. Liked the way he kicked clear but got tired by the look of it after racing very wide throughout. Next run will be more informative.
