Don’t know that that was one of WP Mullins lesser lights, there was a very good word for it before the race
December 29, 2009 at 20:47 #266309What about Tavern Times any fans of this horse
December 30, 2009 at 21:39 #266548Can’t believe Al Ferof isn’t even quoted on Betfair for this. If he was trained by Willie Mullins he’d be a 12/1 shot after hacking up on his only start. And we know this is his target.
December 30, 2009 at 23:10 #266566Al Ferof race could not have worked out any worse so would not be touching him.Was at Taunton today and there was serious word for paul nicholls horse Ramses De Marcigny and he duly obliged. however english horses simply cannot win champion bumpers therfore my selection at this early stage is forty foot tom,who was reported to be only half fit the last day when wining in taking fashion at Navan.

Cottage starDecember 31, 2009 at 14:48 #266696It’s highly likely that most of the better bumper horses have yet to see a racecourse, so far too early to be investing in this race imo.
January 2, 2010 at 17:59 #267158Disappointed with Some Slam’s effort on Tuesday. Doubt Tom will keep him on the level for much longer. Willie’s horse looked quite useful though and was very well backed all day.
DK seems to have quite a big string of bumper horses this year. Be interesting to see if there’s any decent horses among them.
January 2, 2010 at 18:22 #267167IC, I had heard that Weld’s Merchant Royal was a serious horse, and he ran at Leopardstown over xmas. However, after travelling very well up to abou 3f out, he emptied quickly before being pulled up and dismounted. I’m convinced something was amiss with him, and will probably back him at a decent price whenever he runs next.
January 4, 2010 at 20:11 #267680Have heard a rumour that John Hales has bought Al Ferof for a price in the region of 250,000, to be trained by Paul Nicholls. Only a rumour though…

How about these horsesThis is how the look to me
Sizing Mexico : Won with something in hand, high on my short list
Don’t turn bach : Wouldn’t back Patrick Mullins at Cheltenham, maybe if Ruby is on board but it’s not one for me
Forty Foot Tom : Currently top of my short list. The most impressive bumper winner this year, unfancied, unfashionable trainer, currently 20-1 for the Festival looks good value but I’m not an Ante Post backer
Cottage star : Looked as if he needed every inch of the two miles, they might go too fast for him but Nina is sure to get the best out of him if this is the one she’s on, it’s quite likely Noel Meade has an unraced contender up his sleeve.

Here’s name for you Mwaleshi Donald McCain. Yet to run but said to be very useful.
Can’t be letting the Irish have everything their own way

Thanks, as an Oscar half brother to Candy Creek and Crossbow Creek you would think they have been waiting for better ground. Interesting even if he isn’t up to Festival standard although it is no secret McCain is improving his string and the better ones are punted accordingly.
