As usual got a huge shortlist for this, and I like loads from the Willie Mullins, Emmet Mullins, and Joseph O’Brien camps
Also interested in Seddon and Bashful Boy,
Was very close to betting Dawn Rising, but his entry for Irish Cesarewitch makes him risky
Standout for me though is Winter Fog. Promised myself I’d bet him agai after his poor run in Galway Hurdle, and I have to bet him at this price, even if the level might not be his priority. I’ll have a fair swing at him at this price
Winter Fog 80’s EW
ZanndabadEdit – Haven’t bet him yet, but Zanndabad high on the list now after that run at York. Ridden like it was a Pertemps Qualifier
2nd Edit 6th October
Was very tempted by the 25’s on Dawn Rising last week, but held off, and now into 20’s at best. He does though hold an entry in The Beggars End on Sunday, so that has me looking at the 2023 winner, The Shunter. Only a couple of pounds higher for his win before, and looks as if he’s been kept for something. Happy to risk him just now at those odds
Third choice will be Bashful Boy. Fourth in this two years back, off 86, and runs here off 77. Thought his Goodwood run shows he still has a big run in him, and at around 100’s, he’ll hopefully be EW angle at the weekend. I’d be happy to see Elizabeth Gale get the leg up on him again
Dawn Rising the headache for me, and this still all about Winter Fog for me, but happy to add The Shunter before Saturday
Edit – if betting today, it’d be Dawn Rising, but with the 25’s a distant memory, and three already bet, then can’t justify being with him in any shape or form

May not run but chucked a free bet at it just in case.
September 30, 2025 at 06:37 #1740871Fireblade 33/1 – EW (Paddy Power)
Frankel gelding who’s shown a liking for long distance races since transferring from the Gosden’s in March this year to Dylan Cunha’s yard also in Newmarket.
Fireblade settled in well and progressed to win Shergar Stayers Cup at Ascot last month in good style running on.
Just seen on Bobby’s link
Fireblade 40/1 on oddschecker.
I’m off to take some of that.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...October 7, 2025 at 10:53 #1741426Lovely price on Winter Fog Bobby!
He’s the main one that caught my eye when i scrolled through the list too. 20s now only though.
The other i might consider is Mordor if the ground is decent. Left too much to do at the Curragh but ran on nicely…Soft at Goodwood when he was blown away by 8l….i’ll forgive that if he stays around the price he is.

Caprelo each way 25s (1st 5)
October 10, 2025 at 16:50 #1741601Last year’s winner has been prepped for this in mind again , similar with Manxman , can def see the Winter Fog interest as prob brings one of the strongest lines of hurdle form , main bet is Bunting , ran over to short the last twice , peaked for
this and Buick up , e.w it’ll be ManxmanPick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 10, 2025 at 18:25 #1741615Love that Winter Fog bet VtC, quality price.
This is my favourite flat race of the season and not just because it’s one of the last
.Fireblade looks overpriced at 40s so I’ve had a little tickle on him each way. I’ve also had a few quid on Mordor at 18s but I’ve done him win only.
October 10, 2025 at 19:29 #1741628Fireblade 33-1 ew 6 places from stall 3. Low numbered stalls is usually the place to be, as I understand it, when the ground is good or quicker, albeit that is when the usual 30+ runners turn up. Whether that trend continues tomorrow with less runners we will see.
October 10, 2025 at 20:05 #1741636Belgravian for me given a lot to do last run
October 11, 2025 at 08:34 #1741670Dawn Rising EW
October 11, 2025 at 09:43 #1741683Manxman a N/R so my main bet ‘switched’ to
Belgravian 9s win only (BOG)
October 11, 2025 at 11:47 #1741716No Manxman so Bunting and I’ve added Dawn Rising , looks like a proper JP punt here
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
October 11, 2025 at 12:36 #1741727Bunting 17-2.
