Jac, Decent win from Themaxweecan at Goodwood, and the 33’s gone.
September 6, 2019 at 18:04 #1452987I missed the race Bobby but looks like he did it nicely.
16/1 with Ladbrokes now but 25/1 still available .. JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 8, 2019 at 11:40 #1453167Mr Everest entered up in two hurdles at Listowel this week. Fingers crossed that all goes well, should he take up one of those options.
Still liking that 14’s for Great White Shark. She’s entered in The Petingo at Leapordstown next week, always a decent race, and that should reveal more, especially with a few other Cesarewitch entries potentially taking that race in.
Theglasgowarrior is up for The Mallard Handicap at Doncaster on Friday, a race he ran very well in last year en-route to Newmarket, and I reckon he’ll go well there.
Not mad keen on having three Antepost for this, but this time next week I just might have.
September 11, 2019 at 11:05 #1453385GREAT WHITE SHARK 14/1 for me there be playing Jaws music as he stalks them with intent
September 11, 2019 at 11:43 #1453393I wouldn’t argue with that Darren, and I’m hovering over the 14’s right now.
September 12, 2019 at 18:05 #1453769Just had a scroll through the entries this afternoon. Absolutely not a race I’d consider playing ante-post with plenty of these having alternative targets, nevertheless I compiled a shortlist (haven’t seen any prices yet, mind).
– Il Paradiso (Absolutely the class act in the race, you’d imagine he’s likely to line up on Champions Day rather than here irrespective of what he does in the Leger)
– Arrowtown (Some very nice runs last season and a perfectly adequate return at Haydock last week. Prefers soft, but not be completely essential)
– Timoshenko (Notable they kept him in training at 4 and could easily be 15lbs ahead of this mark. Not certain to get in)
– Eddystone Rock (Much improved upped to staying trips on turf. Basically been on the go since August 2018 though)
– Great White Shark (Seems almost too obvious, looks the pick of the Mullins entries for me)
– King’s Vow (Unlikely to get in but his Leopardstown win off 79 is form I’ve looked back to constantly this season, unproven at the trip and most disappointing in the Melrose though)
– Time To Study (They pulled well clear of the field in the Old Borough Cup, probably wouldn’t have won if the 2nd had kept straight but penalty puts him on 97 which looks fine)
Will give the race a proper look when decs come out, but might put one of these in the Ante-Post comp.
September 12, 2019 at 20:31 #1453793Yeah Krypton, that’s the worry with Great White. She’s looked so bloody obvious the minute the entries came out, and the 14’s looks outstanding. It’s just that worry you have with this yard, right up to the last minute.
September 13, 2019 at 02:03 #1453810He’d definitely be my 2nd preference behind Timoshenko at this stage (because Il Paradiso has less chance of turning up than me).
September 13, 2019 at 18:10 #1453855I’ll stick a couple of quid on if you do turn up Krypton.
Surprised to see a bit of pink on Oddschecker for Theglasgowarrior, I though that was a more than acceptable trial for this, but 33’s still freely available. If that’s going to hold, there’s no way I’ll touch him Antepost.
September 16, 2019 at 01:07 #1455121Great White Shark out today at Galway over hurdles.
Obviously very keen on him for this, but even with a win today, I’ll not be having a big go, as I’m not going mad on this race Antepost.
Only got a small bet on Mr Everest so far, and I want to keep it that way, but will see how it goes today first of all.
September 16, 2019 at 17:26 #1455424Hardly a great prep for Great White Shark there, she looked very laboured, and certainly no need to bet her just now.
September 16, 2019 at 19:12 #1455535Diamond Hill running tomorrow as well. Will need to watch GWS’s race back, but given its a small field novice hurdle in Ireland i’ll presume it was a slowly run event which wouldn’t suit her…..

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!September 16, 2019 at 23:08 #1455811Diamond Hill listed at the bottom of the racingpost.com list of entries for the Caesarewitch as a NR, though still in the list on sportinglife card and with the major bookies on oddschecker, so not sure what situation is.
Perhaps this track wouldn’t suit anyway- she pulls like mad apparently and if she saw acres of Newmarket flat space ahead she might never be seen again.
September 17, 2019 at 00:10 #1455959Obviously wasn’t too taken by Great White Shark today, but the hurdles looked the source of most of her problems. Jumping was awful on several occasions.
Astromachia (who is entered in this race, but would likely need a penalty to get in) is running in the 2:20 Chepstow over 1m 4f tomorrow. His first run since September last year.
As for Diamond Hill, perhaps there’s a minimum run qualification she has failed to meet for the race? Only 2 flat starts of course. I’m only speculating though.
Also noticed Coeur Blimey is entered in the Cesarewitch. I’d be very interested if turning up (not least because Lucy Gardner wouldn’t ride). Clearly amiss at Ascot when dismounted after the line but had won a nice handicap at Newbury (2m 2f).
September 17, 2019 at 14:26 #1456270Very nice run from Astromachia on comeback, found only Paths Of Glory too good. Would keep him on side next time, unlikely to be here probably.
September 17, 2019 at 14:55 #1456556Land Of Oz also declared to run at Newcastle AW on Friday Buckers so might be best to wait while.
The ground could fall on his favour on October 12th but possibly not at Newmarket on Saturday.
Paddy Power only going 20’s but better can be found..I’m looking forward to the Trial but disappointing turn out.
Best of luck JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...September 17, 2019 at 15:27 #1456629TKF, you are right about run qualification. Found this, in a racingpost article explaining why Withhold didn’t run in 2018 Ces:
As well as introducing a ratings cap of 110, all runners must have run at least twice on the Flat since April in a race at 1m4f or further
So Diamond Hill will meet this requirement today as ran on Flat over 2m at Bellewstown this summer.
