Ravens Pass is by far the best horse in the field but not on these conditions, dont know yet just how much the ground will disadvatage him but will be on Bankable at 7/2, in the hope that he can take advantage of the ground.

Hopefully when he takes on the big boys again they give him that sort of chance again.

Good ride there, seems he does not pull anymore. Able to front run or be held up. Roll on the rematch with Henry and Tamayuz.

Bankable ran well, especially given the hold up tactics and looks as though he’ll be an even better five year old. One to bear in mind for next years Ten To Follow.

Third Set looks a dog these days and thought he looked light in condition paddockside.

Bankable again showed that 1m at this level isn’t far enough unless the ground is genuinely soft. Found the proper race, he should prove at least a decent gp2 horse.
Considering it wasn’t his ground, Third Set probably ran as well as he ever has, and I wouldn’t mind a few ‘dogs’ like him and Papal Bull in my stable.

Bankable on that ground certainly looked like he could go slightly further. The only other alternative to that theory is whether Dane O’ Neil kicked him on quick enough. I think he’s definitely a group horse but would like to see him tested again at a 1m group race to see how he goes before deciding on uping the trip.

I’ll certainly be backing him next time out

I think thats as good as Bankable is. He’s a group horse but not a g1 horse IMO.

Agreed Ian – that appeared to be Bankable’s best today and it was the ideal race for him to deliver trainer expectations. I don’t think you would be disappointed by that – Raven’s Pass is amongst the best milers in Europe.

No real surprises there. Nothing much has been learned about Raven’s Pass IMO, and what I saw yesterday has far from convinced me that he should be put up with the pace in future.
An admirable run from Bankable, if he were mine he’d be off to the Champion Stakes next.

    Ideal? Best?
Sharp track, bordering on good ground, for a horse that has shown on his every run that it isn’t what he needs, and that is his best?
    Dream on, MD.

The triumph of Ravens Pass pays another, although unnecessary, compliment to Henry.

Didn’t see the race (too busy watching Bristol City destroy Coventry) but I believe he was allowed to ‘bowl along in front’.

Change of tactics, but the result won’t change the next time he and Henry lock horns.

Ballydoyle are sure to implement a pacemaker and RP won’t be allowed to dominate in what is sure to be a stronger contest.

The Henry/Ravens form looks rock solid.

I couldn’t see Ravens getting beat in the 2000 guineas and still think he’s a class act. Henry is definately an exceptional horse and better than even his trainer could have hoped for.

However it was Raven’s day and without Henry would we all be thinking he was a special horse?

Did my dosh on *ankable again! :P

He ran well but was beaten fair and square. Ravens was eased down at he end.

I really hope they try and make the running with *ankable next time – his long stride is his main weapon, not some sort of sudden, astounding acceleration.
