Escobar and Happy Power were doubly entered this weekend, so were too risky a proposition for me to consider.

Regal Reality, Benbatl, Duke of Hazzard, Positive, Urban Icon probably too, would prefer better ground and Sir Busker ran last week. Which just leaves Century Dream. Rule 4s are a coming but it won’t affect me :-)

Ah god yes, I’m having a nightmare with this race, completely forgot the rule 4. Least I had a bit on antepost.

Escobar wasn’t jocked up for Sunday which foolishly made me believe he was running on Saturday.

I can’t be bothered with the race because of the rule 4, if Benbatl is withdrawn that would be @3/1 a 25p deduction and of two horses are withdrawn you get hit twice. Happened to me recently, got hit with a 35p deduction, a 20p and a 15p.

And then usually the horse you backed drifts a little after the rule 4 so you feel like you’ve missed out even more

I find this strange Benbatl being backed into 9/4 from 3/1 with one bookie 11/4. I can’t see him running especially with the forecast for heavy rain and thunderstorms today. The lower his price the bigger the rule 4 will be.

The going is officially soft now and I will be amazed if they run Bennatl. In the sporting life today Osin Murphy said he will run unless the going is too soft but he goes on any going.

I’ve gone from thinking this is a no bet race to thinking regal reality is a massive price.

Well I have to say that was much more impressive than I thought he’d run. He looked a soft ground Grp1 horse there. He’s in better from than last year and at least back to the form he was 2 years ago when placing in the QEII. WH are 20/1 standout price

What, not even on soft ground FF? Generally speaking all the form yesterday’s will be unreliable but he was super impressive running in heavy ground. That’s not that many horses that can do that. A repeat of that ground again at Ascot and all he has to do is run to the same form and he’ll place for sure

Day Flight. He was the Gosden horse who was almost unbeatable in Group 3s, if I recall correctly.

Agree Century Dream is a great each way bet for the QE2. He will have his ground for sure. I can see him going close to winning, not just placing.

Remember he was placed behind Roaring Lion two years ago. I backed him each way and he had everything on the stretch two furlongs out and I think he is a better, stronger horse now.

Certainly when we just look at his ratings, he is back to his form of 2 years ago and he travelled like a Grp1 horse yesterday and picked up in the manner of Grp1 winner on his ground. Of course he was probably somewhat flattered by the field not being suited to the ground, but Sir Busker goes okay on it and he’d finished second last time out in a fairly hot handicap. What’s more and possibly the most important aspect is that he had wind surgery in the winter and you could easily argue he’s in the best form of his career right now. As you say considering he went down only half a length to Roaring Lion two years ago and he’s potentially in better form now and 20/1 is just a huge huge price
