Obvious one for me would be Midnight Shadow. I don’t think the 7lb rise would stop him, he’d have won the Paddy Power easily for that last flight blunder, but he’s reportedly heading for Kempton. I’ll be betting him if he comes here though.
Plenty of others to chew over….
Cepage – Ran a very solid race in The Ultima when last seen, over a trip that maybe just stretched him. Really knows his way around here, and should get his conditions. Mark not too much of a hindrance, and stable in good form. Not the most obvious one for winning fresh, but it’s hardly a major issue for him. Seems to have been around for years, but not too many miles on the clock. Got to consider him 16’s
Coconut Splash Really promising horse this. Fairly promising debut at Exeter last time, and for all I’d liked to have seen him win, he’s pretty unexposed, and I’d suspect that the mark is fair 20’s
Coole Cody Bang there when tipping up at the second last when defending his Paddy Power crown. Up 2lbs for that, but good value for it too. Hard to leave out the equation 12’s
Dashel Drasher Big fan of this horse, though I was a little disappointed by him at Ascot, for all the ground wasn’t his optimum. He’s been dropped three pounds though, and I’d be surprised if he didn’t get his ground here. He’s another who could head to Kempton, and I don’t think he’d disgrace himself there. Can’t back him just now, with that alternative option, but the 20’s is fair 20’s
Farinet Has to step up again from his big Novice Chase win, but in the right hands, and current mark looks lenient. Interesting one 25’s
Janika Highly tried since his Haldon Gold Cup win two years back, but with little success. His Coral Cup win gave a bit away though, and showed plenty of ability left. Mark finally slipping over fences, and after looking difficult to place, this looks a good fit for him, and he’s some price 33’s
Noble Yeats Not great the last two runs, but based on fencing debut, he’s not one to write off to quickly 12’s
Siruh Du Lac Former Festival Winner, who’s not had much luck since, but very pleasing comeback the other week over hurdles, and he should build on that. I thought he’d be pushing those at the head of the market for The Paddy Power but he held at 33’s before being scratched outwith declaration stage. That gives me a headache, as he’s obviously got a niggle of some sort, but yard had Remastered bang on today, and they like this race a lot, so I’m itching to bet him at current price 33’s
Far too many on the shortlist to have an early bet, but I do like these a lot.
At the prices, I’d be most tempted early by Siruh Du Lac or Janika.
Cepage 16’s
Coconut Splash 20’s
Dashel Drasher 20’s
Farinet 25’s
Janika 33’s
Siruh Du Lac 33’s
November 28, 2021 at 21:17 #1569730Lalor 10-1 ew and Dostal Phil 11-1 ew. The way they finished in the PP Gold Cup, the stiffer new course here ought to suit.
November 28, 2021 at 23:31 #1569748I’m most interested in Silver Hallmark, left handed and the New Course should suit I think.
December 1, 2021 at 12:14 #1570081That “scratching” for The Paddy Power Gold Cup still bothers me here, but went Siruh Du Lac as the early bet.

December 1, 2021 at 15:59 #1570107I agree with Janika as being too big of a price, but I’m also with you Greenasgrass with regards to Silver Hallmark.
I think I’ll wait until Monday, though I’m not ruling out an early bet either.
December 6, 2021 at 12:28 #1571037Noble Yeats at 8/1 for me.
December 6, 2021 at 16:17 #1571065Bah, Silver Hallmark price has halved and I hadn’t backed him yet. Has he been tipped somewhere or have people made the connection with the Fiddler form?
December 6, 2021 at 19:12 #1571080The two I like are alnadam and midnight shadow
Will wait till final decs and to see what the ground is like before investing
Trainer has confirmed midnight shadow will run
December 6, 2021 at 19:33 #1571085No idea GAG, but maybe given Coconut Splash was hyped to the max and isn’t coming as he ran badly last week, people might’ve latched on to the other Rucker horse. Combined with his form of course…
Sort of fancy him myself, only looked at race 5mins ago. lol

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 6, 2021 at 19:41 #1571088Silver Hallmark’s entered in the Doncaster race as well the bet365 chase over 3M. I have no idea if he’d stay or not but that race looks a hell of a lot more winnable than this does, there are only 12 entries for starters. Prize money is lower but if he won it he’d need to be finishing in top 3 at Cheltenham to make the equivalent. Hold your horses if you like him is all I’d say I know which way I’d be sending him if he were mine unless I felt sure he’d go very close at Cheltenham.
December 7, 2021 at 00:32 #1571126With Midnight Shadow coming here, he’d be my main hope. 10’s is very fair to me, but I’ll wait just now, as I’d be surprised if he was significantly shorter on the day.
Looks like majority of my early shortlist are heading here, and obviously won’t be with them all, but I’ll certainly be covering Dashel Drasher as well, should he be declared.
Dashel Drasher
Midnight Shadow
Siruh Du Lac 33’s EWDecember 7, 2021 at 12:29 #1571142I’m with you Bobby on Siruh Du Lac, I think he’s been laid out for this.
Travelled really well in what was obviously a confidence booster in his
comeback, in a hurdle over 3m at Cheltenham until he tired after the 2nd
last. Tom Scu didn’t try to push him on, just came home in his own time.
He’s obviously had his problems since he transferred to Pipe just over a
year ago, fell at the 1st then off for a year. He’s back to just 2lbs more
than when he won the Plate at the Festival 2 years back and he just loves
this place. Well done Bob getting the 33s, but still a decent bet at 20/1.I’ve also taken the 12s with Bet365 for Fusil Raffles, I doubt that
will last long. He was a fortunate winner last time out when Shan Blue
came down, but still ran a good race. I can see him going off a lot
shorter on Saturday.Siruh Du Lac 20/1 e/w Betvictor
Fusil Raffles 12/1 Bet365
December 7, 2021 at 19:34 #1571185Good luck Graham, was definitely my #1 for this until Midnight Shadow was confirmed for it, but agree, still a very good bet at 20’s.
December 7, 2021 at 20:35 #1571192Had Siruh Du Lac on for a while antepost
Adding
Midnight Shadow
I’d love Dashel Drascher to get his head in front I he where to run, so may add himVF x
December 7, 2021 at 22:09 #1571200Farinet for me with the forecast rain. I took 14-1 and I’m hoping now that he makes the line up.
December 9, 2021 at 20:02 #1571533I’ve had a second bet here, and I’ve taken Farinets stablemate Cepage at 16-1 ew
December 9, 2021 at 20:58 #1571549As Dashel Drascher not running I switch to coole Cody
