Entries out…..
https://www.racingpost.com/racecards/11/cheltenham/2019-12-14/744595
Very dodgy race Antepost this one, as it can cut up badly, but a few jumping out…
Brelan D’As – Smashing run in The BetVictor, and not hammered for it either. Shortlist material, and I’m hoping he’s given this weekend off.
Kalashnikov – Thought he was perfect for BetVictor, but runs tomorrow at Newbury, where he looks seriously overpriced, and should go close. If I’m right with that, then I’ll cool on him here, but if I’m way off the mark….
Lalor – Frustrating sort, who overall, has been talked up more than overall achievements probably merit. Still, that win in The Arkle Trial last year was decent, with some very nice sorts in behind, so off of 149 here, and bearing in mind that he’s often overbet, then the 16’s appeals a lot.
Cepage – I feel like I’ve put him up as a big fancy at the entry stage for this, for the last six or seven years, and he never actually goes. He’s usually priced at 25’s at this stage, but only 10’s now. I like him, but not at that price Antepost.
Acapella Bourgeois – Always liked this horse, and a very interesting entry, but very ground dependent, and obviously risky Antepost.
Eamon An Cnoc – Early casualty in The BetVictor, but surely a blip, and as then, looks a solid place proposition.
Didero Vallis – Really interesting on his run in The Plate, but his comeback was desperate. Risky, but trainer does like this race.
Very very happy to sit this out for now, and every chance I’ll change my mind on this, but Lalor looks most interesting at Price/OR right now.
No bet for now.
December 4, 2019 at 18:59 #1476545Weights out…..
Kalashnikov a doubtful runner should anyone be considering him, so weights will be going up obviously, if that’s the case.
The more I look at him, the more I like him, and he’d be my selection now, but it looks like back to the drawing board.
December 4, 2019 at 20:09 #1476552You know I’ll be backing my beloved Robin, if he doesn’t run this weekend and makes it to the 5 day decs. He also has a Christmas entry but this race was mentioned for him a few weeks ago and as long as it doesn’t heave down, I’ll be on.
December 8, 2019 at 18:02 #1476891I just keep coming back to Kalashnikov here, and I hope that they reconsider. If he gets declared tomorrow, I’ll take a chance.
December 8, 2019 at 21:53 #1476911Brelan D’As 10-1
December 9, 2019 at 06:51 #1476928I’ve Taken a chance on RATHER BE 16s EW.
Hes had this problem, but goes well fresh. On a going day he is better than 143.
December 9, 2019 at 12:54 #1476943Very pleased I waited, with Kalashnikov not declared.
I’ll go with more than one here, but Brelan D’As at 12’s seems fair right now, and he was always proper shortlist material anyway.
Lalor still catches the eye at 16’s, and he’ll be a saver at the 16’s, while I can’t see Eamon An Cnoc being 25’s on the day, do he’ll do each way. I’ll bet that pair the minute I see the declarations for the other Saturday Races.
It’s been a while since I bet three for one race Antepost, I’m dead against that kind of thing now if I can help it, but I’ll take a chance in this.
Brelan very much the #1
Brelan D’As 12’s
Lalor 16’s
Eamon An Cnoc 25’s EWDecember 9, 2019 at 14:00 #1476951Eamon An Cnoc gets another entry, so I’ve went with Lalor.
Lalor 20’s EW
December 9, 2019 at 14:34 #1476957I’ve made a complete pig’s ear of this, I thought about 10.15 today, when Kalashnikov was still
showing as in the betting, that he had been declared. Obviously I just jumped the gun and he’s
out. The only saving grace is that I hadn’t stuck my bet on yet, but I stuck him up in Pat’s ante
post competition when I imagine he had already been withdrawn at that time. Pity as I really fancied
him. Back to the drawing board, what an eejitDecember 10, 2019 at 13:56 #1477032Guitar Pete really jumps out to me at 25-1. He is my first bet in this. He will be on the nose just now, but I will have an ew punt if he definitely turns up, which I think he will.
December 10, 2019 at 17:07 #1477048Grass, looks like Robin is going, with Daryl Jacob an interesting booking.
December 10, 2019 at 20:15 #1477060I didn’t even spot RDF entered here, his record fresh is decent and this looks to be his best trip.
Last time out he travelled lovely and traded as low as 1.35 in running. I would say he didn’t stay nearly as well as the winner. Giving Burrows Saint 6pds doesn’t look bad now either!
Arguably more of a summer jumper, but he has pieces of decent form. Getting 5pd from a previous Irish horse who’s form isn’t bad either. I think his price is very fair relative to Rider of the Storm’s. Twister could’ve improved him of course.
Not sure there is much in there either, i’ll follow GAG.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!December 10, 2019 at 22:07 #1477065Kobrouk is an interesting horse who kept good company over fences a few years back in France.
He took a savage grip in a handicap hurdle at Aintree on belated UK debut, made his way to the front halfway through the race, then went out like a light.
Wind op over the summer and a decent enough 3rd on reappearance over too short a trip, on ground a bit quicker than ideal, in a race that wasn’t particularly fast run.
Looking at some of his French runs he looks a better chaser than hurdler too. OK he has never jumped a British fence in public but gets over the Autueil ones well. He got convincingly beaten by Kotkikova there a couple of times but she was a good mare and probably more forward than him at that age.December 12, 2019 at 18:42 #1477132I’ll just stick with the 12’s on Brelan D’As here, but I’ll do a wee top up on Lalor, as he’s the each way. Wee bit more on at 16’s, with the five places.
December 13, 2019 at 20:06 #1477217I fancy the favourite SECRET INVESTOR, He needed the run at Down Royal and 14 lengths to REAL STEEL although at first glance doesn’t inspire much confidence, It is not bad. Looking at the John Durkan, Real Steel wasn’t far away and the field was quite tight throughout and at the finish. MIN for me looked very good and i also thought HARDLINE ran a stormer! Secret Investor would of came on for the run at Down Royal so for me based on that form id say this could be the one for him. Im just hoping the ground stays Good to Soft.
Other then that i quite liked the way NOT THAT FUISSE finished his race when he split GETAWAY TRUMP & AL DANCER. He looked to me like over fences this trip suits him best. Would have to run a huge race but being bottom of the weights helps.
December 13, 2019 at 21:32 #1477237Brelan d’as 7/1 for me
Some very strong trends in his favour and I cant see anything that looks chucked in so something proven in these big field Cheltenham handicaps looks the bet
3rd in the grand annual, pulled clear 2nd in the betvictor gold cup
Hopefully 1st in this
December 13, 2019 at 22:28 #1477243I like Robin des Foret here at 16/1 EW. He showed some good form behind Burrows Saint and Le Richebourg last season. The handicapper hasn’t been too harsh on him and I expect Willie Mullins will have him right for tomorrow.
Robin des Foret 16/1 EW
