Fatally injured on the flat 3:15 Ludlow
March 26, 2021 at 00:34 #1532409Oh no! So sad to see Capeland’s name here. He had become a real favourite of mine, especially since that crazy race at Ascot where he was disqualified when carried out by Diego Du Charmil who won that day. It was so good to see him get some justice in his next race a few weeks later. A consistent and classy horse who won 8 out of 32 starts and a very respectable £193k. RIP Capeland
March 26, 2021 at 08:17 #1532426I had been interested to see how he got on over the longer distance. Luckily I didn’t see the race.
RIP Capeland, a top notch handicapper.
March 26, 2021 at 14:43 #1532473So sad. And yet another with a back leg failing while just running on the flat. He wasn’t going anywhere near flat out and was under no stress, yet the leg just went. I honestly don’t recall so many horses just breaking down on the flat and so many of them fracturing back legs. L’ami Serge is another who springs to mind although he was at the tail end of the race and was under pressure. Then of course there was the horse in the cross country at Cheltenham, Kings Temptation, same thing happened again. So many catastrophic breakdowns and not as a result of falls.
