With Paul Hanagan winning this afternoon at Pontefract he went back to the top of the jockeys title.
Do you think that he can make a serious stab at staying there ?
I notice the bookies have him priced up around joint second favourite with Richard Hughes behind Ryan Moore, with 12/1 and upwards the likes of Fallon, Dettori et alJune 28, 2010 at 18:08 #303633No chance whatsoever with Ryan around.
June 28, 2010 at 20:14 #303658Another 3 wins for Hanagan tonight, the man is in tremendous form. He seems to have added a bit of a killer instinct and an AP like drive in a finish.

Yeah without doubt he’s very strong, wouldn’t surprise me if he gets snapped up
by a huge yard next year and moves south.June 28, 2010 at 20:35 #303666He’s a tremendous jockey and very strong in a finish. RUK touched on this earlier this afternoon when they said that Fahey hates finishing second, which is why he employed Hanagan.
I think Hanagan has every chance of being top jockey this year; that’s not saying that he will, I’m just saying that he will pick up many many rides on the back of what he’s demonstrated already this season; a bit like Seb Sanders did when he was in the hunt for the title.
Wouldn’t it be great if we had another Sanders/Spencer-like battle for the title by the way? As much as the horses stick in the memory of all of us racing fans, the season that Spencer and Sanders went head-to-head was purely brilliant.
June 28, 2010 at 20:41 #303669Seconded. That final week was absolutely fantastic and profitable for me and no doubt, alot of punters, everyday, it became a case of rather than concentrating on the horses and their form, for me, it was a case of circling each and every mount Sanders and Spencer had.
The final daycat Doncaster was pure excitement, can’t remember which race and which horse it was but JS rode one of the most stylish races I’ve ever seen, pure box office
June 28, 2010 at 21:05 #303674I find all this talk and obsession by the racing media about jockeys championships boring, especially in the middle of June.
The two guys on RUK tonight couldn’t stop talking about it, boring, boring, boring.June 28, 2010 at 21:11 #303675I find all this talk and obsession by the racing media about jockeys championships boring, especially in the middle of June.

I for one, love Moore, love his moodiness, talent and cheered home every winning ride of his at Royal Ascot, this man is seriously special.
June 28, 2010 at 22:18 #303688Sorry this talk upsets you eddie.
I was unaware of the RUK talk.
It was just intriguing me
Darley managed to beat imo the greatest jockey Pat Eddery. Just wondered if it could happen again.
Northern jockeys of the past have been excellent also e.g. Eddie HideJune 29, 2010 at 06:01 #303724Sorry this talk upsets you eddie.

Northern jockeys of the past have been excellent also e.g. Eddie HideSorry Coggy, nothing wrong with your post, perfectly valid, that’s why I specified the racing media in my criticism. Maybe I shouldn’t have posted it on your thread but as you were discussing the title and two geezers on RUK had been wittering about it all night with more to come I fear, thought I might, rather than start a new thread about it.
For what it’s worth I think you could do worse than support Hanagan as he is very keen and will pull out all the stops, think he is a better jockey than Darley was. Moore is obviously the best but is not too fussed about the championship, it just so happens he rides lots of winners.June 29, 2010 at 06:58 #303726Moore is obviously the best but is not too fussed about the championship, it just so happens he rides lots of winners.
That is very true …. he made a very telling comment after winning the final race at Royal Ascot on Bergo trained by his father, which put him the top rider position.
He said, "being top rider means nothing to me, what is important is riding a winner for Dad at the meeting."
I thought that was a nice comment.
June 29, 2010 at 15:48 #3037983 winners at Hamilton this afternoon and off
to Thirsk tonight.Come on Ryan, don’t let him steel a march
