Nice race, no surprise to see James’s Gate current fav but I’ll play Iberian at 8/1 who won a 4 runner race back from a break and wind surgery last time out on the AW. Won the Champagne stakes here too couple of years back.
Plenty of dangers though, fingers crossed for a good run at least.March 28, 2025 at 03:24 #1724944Every year this race is run i think of Vorvados , good old grey sprinter , won this race at least once in early 80s .
March 28, 2025 at 20:17 #1725007Goodness me, Vorvados, that’s a name that brings back memories. He was with David Elsworth originally and was one of the horses I was shown when I visited the yard as a new owner in October 1979. He was a 2-y-old then with one win to his name.
Vorvados moved to Mick Haynes as a 4-y-old and he won the Cammidge Trophy twice, 1983 and 1984. Both times getting the benefit of a Lester Piggott drive to put him in front close home.
