[Venture to Cognac]

Came down to Ropey Guest in the end. He’s hard to win with, and having got his head in front last time, that’s probably him for the year, but he did look decent last year, and I’ll take a chance that the draw will be in his favour.

I’ve taken 66’s, but I’ll definitely be taking the 8 places EW too.

Nothing else really grabbing me, but considering Good Birthday EW too.

I will probably back my old friend Bell Rock as well but I am not sure about his draw.

I wonder if we are overlooking an obvious one. Last year’s winner Majestic Dawn. He was sensational in the race last year and could be well drawn again.

Stacks of non-runners due to quick ground and one of my selections is out. However Fastnet Crown is still 40/1 which seems way too long. As a second selection I’ll keep faith with my figures and put in Bell Rock.

Majestic Dawn out. Kept faith with Bell Rock. Also think Uncle Bryn has now drifted out to a big enough price, just because Dettori is not on board.

Same here Cork, added Uncle Bryn myself. Still not had my EW on Ropey Guest, being greedy and hoping he hits 80’s for the eight places.

Well done Sam. Down to the wire with the post, but the right side of it!

Had that one on the fringe of my figures on overall and latest form, but not enough to put it in the mix. Pleased to get a return with Fastnet Crown who maybe would have been a little closer with something to race against close home, but never quite close enough to get in a blow.

Well done Sam Last to first a textbook Spencer ride and Jamie had some helpful advise from Frankie, who had ridden him in Dubai, on how to handle him.

Got a nice return on Marie’s Diamond 50/1 this morning with Paddy Power, who ran a blinder (led part of the way and finished 3rd in his group). He nabbed the 7th place slot
