Added silver streak e/w at 11.50 to my goshen today/Cheltenham bet
December 12, 2020 at 14:39 #1513996Can’t imagine Goshen being in the first three today. Simply doesn’t have the class and yet he is as low as 7/4.
December 12, 2020 at 14:51 #1514000Sporting Life and Racing Post describing Goshen as a “gold plated prospect” and “potentially a hurdler out of the top drawer”.
He isn’t. He’s a bad hurdler and his error in the Triumph was unforced. He doesn’t jump straight or low enough. He was a big forward juvenile who burned decent horses off that day- fair play- but the horse he was going to beat was a skinny wee mare having her second hurdle start, who had to get past the field and hurdled badly. Two indifferent flat runs and a bad scope? Meh. I’ll pop the humble pie in the oven just in case but there’s no champion hurdle winner in the field today. I’ve had an ew on Stormy Ireland, who found fences too big for her little frame, and Call Me Lord
December 12, 2020 at 14:55 #1514001Unforced?
The shoes on his two left legs got stuck together
Thats the only reason Jamie Moore unseated
I’m not big goshen fan but you are being a bit harsh
And ignoring what aspire tower and allmankind have done to Frank his form
December 12, 2020 at 15:06 #1514002Goshen finished exactly where he belongs…. No real surprise
Well, Fontwell is the place where he really belongs.
WD, winners.
December 12, 2020 at 15:07 #1514003Took Adam wedge ages to get silver streak clear room
Really shouldve won
Well done anyone on song for someone
Goshen was awful
December 12, 2020 at 15:08 #1514007Ex rubylight that’s bull ….he went out like a light so they,ll have to see what happened , there’s a big question now but he is a bit better than fontwell
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 12, 2020 at 15:09 #1514009Another big run off ballyandy …if ever a horse deserved a race it’s him
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 12, 2020 at 15:10 #1514010Well done Gladiateur, not only with the winner, but taking a strong view on Goshen.
December 12, 2020 at 15:14 #1514011Farce of a race.
Should have abandoned and run it tomorrow at 1pm.
(Before you all suspect I am talking out my wallet, I didn’t bet on the race at all, so I am not talking out of my pocket. I’m talking as someone who wanted to see a good race, not an asterisk of a race.)
December 12, 2020 at 15:14 #1514012Unforced?
The shoes on his two left legs got stuck together
They locked cos he’d just made a balls of the hurdle. He didn’t jump well today either. (And possibly choked or bled given how fast he back pedalled).
I did say he burned off decent horses in the Triumph though HdB was convinced Aspire Tower didn’t give his true running that day.I predict that Goshen will end up a reasonable handicap chaser and place in the Summer Plate.
Well done Song for Someone backers
December 12, 2020 at 15:16 #1514013Quelle the same point has been made a few times over the last few weeks ….as usual TV schedule is more important
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 12, 2020 at 15:17 #1514014I think we should listen to what Moore has to say before we right him off …. He went out like a light …a guess there a poss breathing issue
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 12, 2020 at 15:25 #1514016Thanks, VTC. There must be something wrong with Goshen, the way he went out so quickly, but I just couldn’t see anything in his form to justify his lofty ratings- Timeform had him equal to Epatante!
As predicted, neither Sceau Royal nor Verdana Blue could pick up on that ground, having travelled well, and Silver Streak ran another cracker- he was so unlucky not to get out in time.
Anyway, nice to be right for once. Doesn’t happen too often!
December 12, 2020 at 15:45 #1514019Big hurdle race of the day and one of the most important trials for the Champion: run when low sun could clearly be an issue and turned into a bit of a farce due to missed out hurdles.
Unimportant mares handicap hurdle: run at time when low sun could not be an issue and all hurdles jumped.
Those genius race planners and TV executives strike again!
December 12, 2020 at 15:49 #1514020I think the signs were there with Goshen for a long time – did smell fishy how they were talking about Ebors and all the big flat handicaps, even the Long Distance Cup.. then he didn’t appear until that dismal run at Haydock at the back-end. Feels like he hasn’t been pleasing them for a long time.
Some churlish stuff above though. Something has clearly gone very wrong with the horse in the interim but that Triumph performance looks legit in isolation however you look at it: figures and collateral form.

Ok I concede that the form of the race Goshen didn’t win looks OK.
