I note that Buick has been banned after todays Prix de Diane.
Apparently 15 days for causing a fall and 15 further days for being offensive to officials.
Does anyone have any further info on this ?

Buick accused the stewarding panel of being corrupt. He later apologised.

Rules him out of the July meeting at Newmarket, the Irish oaks and the King George. Unlikely to go down well with his employers.

They might have accepted the ban for the fall but can’t see them being chuffed about his outburst. I don’t see how he can even appeal that part of his ban – unless he can actually produce evidence that they ARE corrupt

Buick hasn’t appealed that part of the ban. He is just challenging the 15 days for dangerous riding.

If anyone hasn’t seen the race yet Steve posted a link to view it in the Classic races in France thread.

This is the replay for anyone who never caught the race live:-

It seems to have been a bit of a rough race with a few other horses getting bumped around so perhaps Buick felt upset at being the only one to pick up a ban. That said, none of the other incidents led to a fall.

The French are NOT corrupt, No, never, absolutely not…..!!!

Michel Platini just paid me to say that by the way
Did anyone notice the 0-0 draw with Switzerland earlier, golden handshake that, I only had £2.50 on it mind because you cant trust the French.

15 days for causing a fall.
If that was in this country and the fav fell off there would be some saying on here the jockey jumped off deliberately

It looked a pretty rough race to me!! And I suppose they had to avoid the general bunching phrase that our stewards usually trot out.

AND I hope they took longer than the Ascot stewards took for those two enquiries this week!!

It looked a case of clipping heels.
No intention on Buick’s part but I think his mount came across infront of the other

I find it a bit sad that more is said about William Buick than was said about the winning filly today.

Despite the Racing Post correspondent stating that this was La Cressonniere’s fifth success, this is actually her seventh win in a row and there’s only really Minding you would put up against her with confidence.

This filly raced right into the depths of November last year (24th) and made her reappearance on the 20th of March this year. That’s an exceptionally short winter break by anybody’s standard, yet she has netted the Guineas/Oaks double in France to remain unbeaten.

7UP for La Cressonniere and that’s usually a fizzy drink, or a hectic night for Snow White. B-)

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Buick is your typical “home” rider, in that under UK regulations he’s accustomed to being able to carve up any other horse he’s racing against by not keeping his own mount straight, intentionally or unintentionally, and keep his place under almost any circumstances.

On first viewing I thought the jockey who came down had been kicked in the head, thank God he got up again straight away, really feared for him for a second.

The French interference rules discourage careless/dangerous riding, and are the gold standard imo.

Hope he loses his appeal, and well done the Chantilly stewards for taking none of his crap.

Buick is now appealing both parts of the ban.

Surely he’s got nothing coming with the rudeness part and should be man enough to admit that.

Comes across like a schoolkid to me.

I’d stuff another 30 days up his pipe.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Buick lost his appeal and the ban stands for the full 30 days.
