My number one hope for this was Blazing Khal, but he looks like staying over hurdles for now

With The Nice Guy ruled out, this looks wide open again.

I’m swaying towards Ramillies at this point, but I would want to see bigger than 25-1 at this stage of the season. I’m holding fire, but very close to betting him as well

    Minella Cocooner 7-1
    Gerri Colombe 20-1

    You’re slipping, Mike. 😳

There are bigger prices available for both of those on Oddschecker.

I agree with you on Minella Cocooner- he’s always looked a three mile chaser to me- but it was interesting that Willie said that he has a lot of natural speed (maybe he was channelling his inner AOB) after Leopardstown last February.

I wonder if he’s the next Allaho? 🤔

    Journey With Me.

He defeated Minella Crooner and Kilcruit at Leopardstown last Christmas, which does not look too shabby.

He had little chance behind Sir Gerhard in the Ballymore but was still running a fine race when undeservedly falling at the last.

He will surely make a better chaser and 20/1 is available.

Bear Ghylls @50s for this. Still a bit of 33s out there. Was on him for the Ballymore in ‘21 at 66s but his hurdling was sketchy to say the least but the way he came back to nearly nab BMG when he looked at one point that he was going to fall out the back of the tele showed he really relished them hill. He was a big shell of a horse then and according to Nicky Martin has really filled out. If he does take to fences he really could be a big player in this. Runs in the Colin Parker on Sunday, so may have some indication of my fate then. If he does manage to win I could see him shortening up to a 10s poke by Sunday afternoon.

That’s some confidence from the Nicky Martin stable. They could’ve found any old egg and spoon novice chase; instead, they’re taking on the 153-rated Miller’s Bank, amongst others, on Bear Ghylls’ first run in nineteen months and first race over fences.

Good luck with that bet, couteau. 👍

Cheers Glad. Yep, Ahoy Senor was pitched into it last year and unseated, unfortunately. Big ask against more experienced chasers, notably Miller’s Bank, and, as you say after such a long layoff. Just hoping he doesn’t completely blow out and jumps well to keep the dream alive. Have him in a treble with Alpinista and Ahoy Senor which would be very nice if it came in.

Good luck Spoon with Ramillies, and I’ve bet him myself for The National Hunt Chase.

The one that online for this is Beauport. Possibly seen as more of a National Hunt Chase horse as well, and he’s certainly not the most obvious one for this, but he’s my main hope right now.

Was so close to betting him at 25’s before his win at Carlisle, but I held off, and he’s best priced 16’s now. Happy to wait at those odds just now.

    Beauport

    Taken 14/1 on gerri colombe

Watched it in a hills and was surprised that was available post race

With how harsh the cuts usually are was expecting 10s so happy to invest a point

The Beginners Chase that opens Punchestown’s card on Saturday has some eye catching entries, including Flame Bearer, Gaillard Du Mesnil, Journey With Me, Kilcruit, Minella Crooner and Saint Felicien.

Let’s hope a few of them stand their ground.

Sad to see the Bear Ghylls dream pretty much dead in the water. Could excuse not finishing his race off first time out but looks like there’s an issue with him and doesn’t look like the engine’s still there.

    Bounce factor, perhaps?

That did cross my mind, Glad. Relatively quick turnaround after the best part of 600 days off. I might give him one more chance. Offered 95% of my stake as cash out and was toying with taking it and putting it on Kalanisi Star for the AB.
