May 15, 2017 at 20:09 #1300952I wouldn’t mind a wager on chessman after it wins at York
May 15, 2017 at 20:53 #1300964Welcome to the forum fgwilson, that’s some username you got there.
Good luck with Chessman on Wednesday hope it don’t get Battered by the Haggas horse…

Looking to Rook the bookies with that one then?
The cleaned out bookie will be asking “Will you take a Cheque Mate?”
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Chessman was a non runner so avoided getting Battered…..

May 24, 2017 at 10:28 #1301957First Winning Ways romps home at Ascot then Omran yesterday at Newcastle. I think they might all meet again in the Brittania. Might even do a tricast
May 25, 2017 at 22:45 #1302076There are prices up for the race now.
As is often the case, Paddy Power are first in there.
Chessman is 8/1 Fav and Son Of The Stars next best at 10/1.
Regarding the Chessman form, Khafoo Shememi boosted the Winning Ways form by landing a Listed race this evening. Previously 5th to Winning Ways the horse narrowly beat Escobar, with odds-on fav Zainhom a couple of lengths back in third. Not a great advert for Barney Roy, who had beaten Zainhom in the Greenham.
Also perhaps worth a look this week is Graphite Storm. He was 6th in Chessman’s race. The 3rd, 4th and 5th have all won since. Graphite Storm went down a short head next time and is entered in the Silver Bowl at Haydock on Saturday, where he will run from a 2 lb higher mark. He is currently 9/1 for Saturday’s race.
Winning Ways was one of my formula horses, being by Lope De Vega out of a Danehill mare. William Haggas ran him twice on bad ground but now that he’s with Jeremy Noseda he seems to have found his feet. He is 14/1 for the Britannia with Omran a 16/1 shot.
Hope this information is of use.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
May 26, 2017 at 19:00 #1302163thanks for the tip. I think 8/1 is fair. Had a saver on winning ways. Also thanks for the tip about graphite storm looks a good each way bet tomorrow
June 17, 2017 at 17:38 #1304683Son Of The Stars is justifiably taking a lot of the attention from the Hannon stable being 8/1 ante-post favourite but in the same stable resides The Grape Escape who I can’t help but feel is overpriced at 20/1 (generally). This is a smashingly good looking colt who is only 2 pounds higher than a seasonal debut 3rd behind Atty Perse at Sandown. He’s still relatively unexposed and looks the type who’ll relish a strong pace to aim at in a big field handicap.
Not a whole lot else pinches my interest but Capezzano will be a mightily intriguing runner. He has only had 1 run in Britain but has since shown classy form out in Dubai including a 3rd place finish in the UAE 2000 Guineas. Admittedly that is all dirt form but he shaped with promise in that York maiden behind Rivet last year. Buick looks likely to ride and if there is a ‘group horse in a handicap’ this could be it. 33/1 with Bet365, Betfred, Ladbrokes and Corals.
June 17, 2017 at 19:27 #1304694For me CITY OF JOY at 11/1 and RONALD R at 14/1.
City Of Joy has won two handicaps nice and quietly and only been put up five for each one.Who knows where the improvement will stop.
Ronald R has to finish where Son Of The Stars does and is a bigger price and arguably has move improvement in him!!They are my two starters for ten!!
June 21, 2017 at 19:07 #1305429I worry about Son of The Stars as a big big danger Raymo, but I’ve went for Ronald R as well here, and have taken the 16’s each way with Skybet who are paying 6 places.
June 21, 2017 at 19:34 #1305441On Senator here E/W @ 33’s 6 places
Finished just behind Golden Apollo LTO who has won twice since. The step up in trip looks like it will suit. Quite a comical ride if you have a look at the replay, Stewards must of been on a tea break
June 22, 2017 at 01:13 #1305509Medahim is improving and his run at Goodwood was unlucky and shows he is very competitive in high class handicaps. Should do as well over 8f. Previous attempt should be ignored.
Great price at 25/1, 30+ exchanges
Afaak is interesting too. Out of Ghanaati and very unexposed
June 22, 2017 at 01:17 #1305513I’ve added Afaak as well Nulty, at the 16’s, definitely looks worth a few quid each way with those 6 places.
June 22, 2017 at 06:12 #1305527I liked Ronald R until I saw he was coming out of box 1.
My two against the field are:
Corobri – ran a stormer in the Spring Cup at a time when Hugo was anything but A-go-go. Bound to improve from that run (which is strong form anyway) and has a nice high draw
Sabador – a hard-puller who looks sure to run a career-best in this sort of big field scenario. Still totally unexposed in handicaps and also has that vital high draw
Son Of The Stars certainly has the buzz behind him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it go off 4/1 and win but you don’t get rich backing 7/1 shots in 30-runner handicaps.
June 22, 2017 at 07:14 #1305536Via Seredipity at a huge price
June 22, 2017 at 08:26 #1305544Complete mindfunk of a race but Afaak looks a reasonable selection having only started racing this year. Had quite a taking debut when very slow away and green before finishing with a flourish.
He had to put a bit of work in on his next start but once he got going he wasn’t for stopping and his latest victory on soft ground might just be the proof that this horse has a serious edge to him.Plenty in with a chance here so nothing major coming out of my pocket on this.
Afaak 16/1
