I’m no golf expert, but love to have an interest in the Majors

These are my 4 against the field:

    Tiger @ 7.8 – surely too big?
Ross Fisher @ 60 – A distant non-blood relative of my best mate. Also no pregnant wife to distract him this year
    K J Choi @ 130 – Gotta love KJ in a Major
    Charles Schwartzel @ 150 – Tipped up by a friend…

    Anyone else playing?

I agree Tiger is a massive price on a course he loves and his driving is improving by the tournament as well. Still not as deadly on the greens as he was though.Very tempting price.

I fancy Paul Goydos each way at a massive price tbh straightish hitter although not long(but you dont need to be long at St Andrews)he is in form too.

Id love Lefty to win it but his game aint a British one.

Ross Fisher @ 60.0 and Rhys Davies @ 120.0 are my picks so far.

Will probably throw a few quid in Retief Goosen and Robert Allenby’s direction also.

Hope Tiger doesn’t win, I just don’t like the guy at all – his attitude is awful. Would do well to take a leaf out of Mickelson or Darren Clarke’s book (two of the nicest men in sport, not just golf)

    Good luck to all.

I can see where you’re coming from with Tiger, but he’s brought me so much excitement over the years, having religiously backed him in virtually every tournament, the highs and the lows etc.

There really isn’t a Golfer like him, so much class.

Darren Clarke is a lovely man, I’ll never forgot that moment in the
Ryder Cup, for me that has to be the most emotional moment ever in
    a major sporting event.

    Good luck fella.

I have sold finishing positions on the spread so I hope all (or most) of the following perform well:

    Woods
    Rose
    Furyk
    Poulter
    F Molinari
    Fisher
    Wood
    Love
    Bjorn
    Lehman

Some fancied players and some long shots. As long as more finish below the spread than above it then I will make money.

I may also try and search out some Betfair value on Friday evening  .

Yep Magoo, you can’t beat a bit of golf betting on a Friday evening – terrific value to be add.

I don’t think there’s another sport in the world where you can back someone who is bang in contention at 25/1 and above.

A couple of weeks ago I backed David Horsey at 28/1 and Bubba Watson at 33/1, both had played really well during the fist two rounds and were just a few shots off the lead. Both went on to win, and although I had a huge smile on my face I was a bit gutted I didn’t do them in a double.

So yes, whilst I’ll be having a few pre-tournament punts, the majority of my bets will be placed on Friday evening. Not only do you back golfers at great odds, you also back golfers that are guaranteed some TV coverage over the weekend (because they’re in contention).

Martin Kaymer @ 40/1 and Rickey Barnes @ 200/1 for me, with the latter to be leading after the first round @ 125/1.

I backed Kaymer in the last two tournaments (Scottish and Welsh Open) I’m gonna throw a tenner on him just incase.

Bit alarming to hear Lee talk the othe day Crizzy. By all accounts the injury needs six to eight weeks rest but it won’t get any worse by playing this week.

But Lee admitted it’s painful at the top of his back swing when his leg is twisted the most. In fact he said he can’t fully complete his back swing. Not sure that will be a problem because at the worst he will lose ten yards off the tee. But if he gets a ‘twinge’ then we could see a few wayward shots this week from Westwood.

However, there’s always the saying, "beware of the injured golfer" to cling too. I’m not backing Lee this week, but I certainly won’t be laying him either.

Tiger has been struggling on the PGA Tour this year.

T19 2010 the Memorial Tournament presented by Morgan Stanley
    T46 2010 AT&T National
    CUT 2010 Quail Hollow Championship

However in the Majors he has 2 Top 5 events

    T4 2010 Masters Tournament
    T4 2010 U.S. Open Championship

What was the major problem with Woods this year at the Majors?

    His putting…

Some of the worst putting tiger Woods has ever put on a golf course i would say. It was painfully bad especially at the Master where the tournament was their on a platter for him. His driving also was awful putting it in all sorts of places off the tee.

Tiger has now changed his putter and has gone for a new one which can only shorten his odds because the scotty was really poor. His Driving has also earned out the kinks but he doesnt even need to use the big stick at St Andrews. He can plot around the course with those stupidly good "stinger 2 irons" prob the best shot i reckon he has in the game for Link Golf.

Many are crabbing the fact he hasn’t played links golf in Ireland this week but half the field showed up at the Scottish Open…a event that has only worsened the chance of competitors in the Open.

The media glare will also not as intense as in America so he can take a bit of pressure of the game off that way.

He just seen his Kids….he has the Porn Star Kid Case off his back. He has a new putter…..he tee’s of perfect just after 9am on Thursday.

7.4 is the bet of the week. Lay off even on Thursday Night.

    Mr Woods

    Bring it home
