A great finish. Don’t think it will turn out to be a great race.
No excuses for Zensational, but jockey could have done more.
Crown Of Thorns ran a great race at a nice price.
November 7, 2009 at 20:26 #257703Espinoza couldnt have done more, Gomez shouldnt have gone inside. If Gayego went on the outside he would have won. It’s no coincidence that he flew home on the outside last time.
I believe that result is what the Americans call a ‘bomb’.
Winner pays $52!

Ran like a hobby horse.

November 8, 2009 at 04:07 #257798Gayego was in too tight in a race where too many were closing way too fast. Just a bit of bad luck here. I was very happy for Crown Of Thorns who was on the Triple Crown Trail but was injured and taken out. Well it seems he’s back on track. Both of the top two finishers are geldings so we should see them again in the future. I don’t know what to say about Zensational except he was not the horse we saw earlier this year. Or was he and just was beaten by better horseflesh? The sprint title is up for grabs and may go to Fabulous Strike who skipped this race because he does not love the surface.
November 8, 2009 at 11:32 #257838I thought this turned out to be the most exciting contest on a day full of drama, even though I was on Gayego. We probably didn’t see a Midnight Lute or a Kona Gold, but what a race.
November 9, 2009 at 21:39 #258079I’ve heard a lot of people say that same thing. It was a finish like you hope to see when it’s all said and done. It is also one that will give one heartburn.
