Has to have been an inordinate amount of collective magical thinking among the “Lads”

    Bizarre really

Oh well, at least CoT didn’t break down so there we go. I wonder if Aidan will ever try do it properly and get a 100% dirt bred horse and give him at least a couple of starts on dirt.

Just goes to show how good of a horse Giant’s Causeway was – he was coming off the back of running 9 times in Europe and only just failed to beat the US great Tiznow (the only two time BC Classic winner).

Didnt they give it a good go with Mendehlson or somebody like that a few years back? He wasnt in Troys class but its hard to know how good you need to be to win this sort of race vs what we see on turf at the highest level. That’s partly why I dont normally watch, I just cant relate to what I’m seeing.

Think the Japanese Jockey was wrong to give up the lead on Forever Young. The trainer already stated that he hates kick back. Had to be taken out to the middle of the track near the end and then he began to fly.

The winner was great though and the forgotten horse of the race. He came from behind COT and made him look like a low grade handicapper on that surface.

I’d rather have owned Giant’s Causeway than City of Troy anyway. Hard as nails, had twice the numbers of runs as a 3yo, never out of the first two and won more money (taking inflation into account). Proper horse.

tbh Fierceness did extremely well to last as long as he did.
The way COT ran could’ve been expected.
The winner came from behind COT though.
    They went a suicidal pace.
Amount of races in this Breeders Cup that have been won by those from out the back because they’ve gone too fast too soon.
Jockeys need to go back to school.

O’Brien blaming it on not training the horse to come out of the stalls quickly enough.

Deluded. The slow break obviously did not help but the horse did not act on the surface. O’Brien should take his shades off if he could not see that.

I’m sorry that’s twice Aidan has spouted such shite this season , he’s been beaten fair and square and such excuses make him look sad and foolish

I think they were very worried about the kickback, it was notable that Ryan took him quite wide when he didn’t get the start they hoped. In truth I’m not sure he was ever really put in the race once the start went badly. Never looked like winning and we all knew his chance had gone after a few seconds.

Daft excuse considering the winner was behind City Of Troy at the first turn.

HDLG, it’s part of Aidan’s job description to take the blame when things go wrong.

I’ve never met him, but I love the guy: impeccable manners (except for not removing his sunglasses when being interviewed), unfailingly polite, self-deprecating, humble and modest. But his job is to blatantly lie and maximise his horses’ stud value. It’s never the horse’s fault if it’s beaten, it’s his.

Glad it’s not his job the lie at all , he’s quite happy to name all and sundry when he wins , he lost fair and square , be gracious and leave it at that , he may want to look at a certain Mr Mullins , that’s a modest man , and in my eyes at this time more talented , he doesn’t lie , he also isn’t dictated to by owners as a certain Mr Ryanair found out …

I was talking about when a horse loses, not when it wins. 😉

I guess training a European horse to specifically start fast when running on dirt in the US for the first time didn’t occur to Aidan prior to the race……hard to imagine how that issue wouldn’t have at least come up in talks with the boys in the lead up to the race.

Aidan…..for the love of God, if you are going to make an excuse at least make it somewhat believable

Glad it they were so worried about breeding rights they would have stayed away from the dirt , total brain fade from both trainer and owners … Let’s be honest there looking a bit desperate
