whoever said that the champion 2 year old race is run in england or france i have to dsagree with.for the last few years it has been the national stakes at the curragh which has produced the champion 2 year old!!!although sheik mohammed would probly say the dewhurst but if the national stakes winner is gonna swerve the dewhurst sheik mo normally puts his hand in his pocket to buy our champion s.
i think 1 of the big reasons why he bought new approach cause new approach was ment to swerve the dewhurst.end of the day its very hard to knock back sheik mos money.November 16, 2009 at 11:14 #258897i think 1 of the big reasons why he bought new approach cause new approach was ment to swerve the dewhurst.end of the day its very hard to knock back sheik mos money.
Jim Bolger loves to seeing him coming anyway!
November 16, 2009 at 11:32 #258904yeah the only thing us in ireland will prob not see them again if they go to godolphin
they prob end up running in italy or germany or nottingham in a conditions race which makes you wonder if they are realizing there full potential under bin surror and crisford.i know 1 thing id rather have jim bolger training my derby prospect if i had 1 it MIGHT show up for the irish derby where as godolphin would definatly not be there.November 16, 2009 at 16:07 #258959I don’t know about the banning of whips, JHorse. My gut feeling is yes, in todays day and age, beating up an animal to improve the prospect of financial gain for gamblers, has a certain anti-social quality. But I also recognise the arguments for safety and certain of the horsey-people arguments voiced on here.
We need to get people educated about things like the Pro-Cush whip. I didn’t know about it and if I didn’t know about it, what chance has a channel surfing couch potato watching the Woodward on ESPN got?
All that viewer saw was Borel’s impression of a windmill in a tornado and, as you acknowledge, his "determination" to win at all costs.
March 24, 2010 at 15:25 #285307Having watched the BCC at the time, and just seeing a replay of the race, i have to say Queally’s ‘beating’ of Twice Over is sickening and absolutely awful for anyone who has an ounce of care for horses.
Yes, the horse picked up, but i think any animal would have picked up with that amount of abuse.
Horrible sight, absolutely disgusting. Im far from anti-whip, but watching Queally whipping the backside out of Twice Over, with force, and overdone frequency, was horrendous.
