I think for my selections overall, I want the weather fine until Blue Bajan crosses the line in the Champion Hurdle, and for it to pour down for the remainder of the meeting.
February 16, 2009 at 19:07 #210532Poor foresight there from Miko’s connections IMO. There’s little to suggest he’ll be good enough to make the frame in the GC, whilst he also looks an ideal type for the GSDP.
Don’t think the big fences will help him in the GSDP – seems to unseat a little too easily. Notre Pere would be a good horse for the GSDP, heavy ground and 3m 5f – happy days
February 16, 2009 at 20:32 #210545How many British or Irish horses usually compete in the Grande Steeplechase?
February 16, 2009 at 21:05 #210556Batman Senora used to – he was officially with Ian Williams but he seldom ran anywhere other than France (took on Best Mate and Beefy once, ran at Wetherby too on an occasion).
There’s probably one runner every 10 years but the hurdle races there get a number of Mullins entries so there’s hope yet.
If the Alners, Jim Dreaper etc. knew how much it was worth in comparison to the races they aim their horses at (particularly for British trainers with the exchange rate of the pound at the min) they’d definitely take an interest.
