——————————————–After graduating in Law from the University of Warwick, I was initially employed in the horseracing and betting industries. Following student summer work in a variety of roles with Habbershaws Bookmakers in Hull, I worked as a racing journalist for: Racing & Football Outlook, a number of daily newspapers in a freelance capacity, the Racing Post for six years (1988-94), (spent three fascinating months outside the racing media world with Duty Free News International), then back to racing and sport at TODAY (1995), and The Independent (1996-2001), where I also penned features on subjects as diverse as Black Sabbath and Gary Kasparov. In 2001 I left racing journalism to take up a senior role at Flutter.com, a pioneer online betting exchange which later merged with now market leader Betfair. I then set up my own betting exchange, BackAndLay.com, which traded for a number of years. I then moved on to become Director Of Betting Exchange Development for Stan James and then joined ibetX as a Senior Manager and was promoted to the position of Director within a month. I departed ibetX in 2008 and since then I have retrained and am now an FA-qualified (Level 2, Uefa B Licence, Pt 1) football coach, I am currently General Manager at gol-mundial UK, based in Basingstoke. My voluntary work includes being Club Chairman and Club Secretary of MFC Popley Youth, the fastest growing Youth football Club in Hampshire, and I am involved in local politics as a trustee member of Popleyfields Committee. As can be imagined, my private interests include football, horseracing and greyhound racing and I am privately still very much involved in projects to do with the betting industry.
At least I have progressed from being slated for not being me to being slated for not being as you remember me.
