And another one.
January 19, 2023 at 14:23 #1631553It’s actually mental he hasn’t stopped while he can still claim 7lb – could easily make the difference in a race like the Lincoln.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 19, 2023 at 19:28 #1631593I’m not sure that I agree with disappointing the lad while he’s winning, he’s learning.
The prospect of picking up a big handicap in the Spring is a long way away for a young lad.I've stumbled on the side of twelve misty mountains
I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysJanuary 23, 2023 at 19:09 #1631980Going slightly mad today with his treble today. There will be no need for an US stint, if he won’t preserve his claim.
January 23, 2023 at 19:12 #1631981No more 7lb claim after today.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 23, 2023 at 19:31 #1631983It might not be the worst strategy. I’m sure there are plenty of other youngsters carefully tending their claim for the big day but there are only so many big spring handicaps and only one lucky winner each time. Who will get – literally- 15 minutes of fame before the buildup to the next race begins and the chat about Classic possibles and the next hot Appleby 2 year old rolls on.
Maybe better to fire in winner after winner at a less competitive time of year as regards both races and column inches- the latter especially as the freeze got rid of a lot of NH racing and it’s a slack enough part of the NH season anyway. He got his name in the Racing Post last week and probably will again tomorrow.
January 23, 2023 at 20:03 #1631986If he gets beat a head in the Lincoln claiming 5lb, when he could have claimed 7lb, it might yet look like the worst strategy – we’ll see.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 23, 2023 at 20:25 #1631988How likely is that exact scenario though? How many bright young things have won the Lincoln in recent years anyway? Benoit de la Sayette is the latest but he was already Gosden’s anointed one. It’s probably no coincidence that 3 days after his big win, video of him hanging out with cokeheads did the rounds and he was duly drug tested and banned.
Darren Egan is the next one I could find and things didn’t go so fabulously after that.
Hollie Doyle, with no big industry connections and not riding for a megastable, first got attention riding winners on bread and butter all weather in the winter didn’t she?
January 23, 2023 at 20:28 #1631989“How likely is that exact scenario though?”
If I’ve backed his Lincoln mount, it’s a racing certainty to have that exact denouement!
Time will tell!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 24, 2023 at 11:26 #1632015This lad is the best claimer iv seen in a good while
He is very polished and regularly running rings around the other jockeys on the all weather
January 24, 2023 at 12:07 #1632017I think this lad has got his sights set on bigger things, rather than one moment in time.
January 24, 2023 at 13:38 #1632022It is what the trainers who might, or might not, book him to take advantage of his claim have got their sights on that matters at this point in his career.
He’d be well advised to make sure he starts the Flat Turf season with as new a 5lb claim as possible.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 24, 2023 at 15:44 #1632030Well, fact is his career doesn’t end with the loss of the 7lb or 5lb claim. If he’s good enough, he’ll be good without a claim as well.
But at such an early stage it surely would provide him with some decent rides in better races. You could get tired of winning Class 5 or 6 races on the A.W.And how many times was the Lincoln runner-up apprentice ridden and beaten just under a length due to a loss of claim?
January 24, 2023 at 16:10 #1632032Cracking discussion – can’t wait to see what, if anything, he rides in the race now!

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"January 24, 2023 at 17:31 #1632037Yes, Ian and he also is a cracking rider. The main reason why I’m hoping to see him ride in better Turf races this summer. Every now and then the sport needs a proper new face.
January 24, 2023 at 18:33 #1632042Not as stylish as Rossa Ryan..
Charles Darwin to conquer the World
January 26, 2023 at 17:04 #1632285Another winner today and still 15 booked rides including Saturday’s cards. There is no more need to leave for the US, if he’s just about to lose his 5lb claim as well.
Can’t blame him for riding winners, just for riding though.
