Bloody minefield this, not just because I don’t know the draw, but the entries littered with horses I struggle to leave out……

    https://www.oddschecker.com/horse-racing/ante-post-racing/flat/beverley-bullet-sprint-stakes/winner

….but the one who jumps out at me immediately is Judicial. Firmly put in his place in the big G1’s at Ascot, and Goodwood, I just think that although he’s hard to catch right, back in this company, this might just be the day he does it. 2/2 at Beverley, I think he’s got a lot going for him, but just reluctant to have an Antepost at this track.

No bet then, but for now….

I see that the ground has been changed to soft. If I thought it would stay no better
than that, or if it were to be towards heavy I would be all over Intense Romance.
Problem is that the forecast is for no rain between now and Saturday, and with
a fair drying wind and warm conditions I think it’s likely to be no worse than
good. If there is unexpected rain I’ll pile in. At this point, and with the likely
conditions, I’ve had a crack at Queens Gift at 16/1. She’s up to
her highest mark, but she looks to be an improving sort and last time out her win
at Ripon was in a very decent time. Michael Dods can do no wrong in my eyes with
sprinters. I’m taking a chance before the final decs and the draw is made, if she
gets a low number stall she would have it all to do as it’s odds on that the high
numbers will take it. Fingers crossed she’s lucky with the draw :good:

Up early this morning decided to have a good mull over this race and although you could make a case for several of these I have to stay with Copper Knight a horse that I have followed from his early days with Hugo Palmer and now with Tim Easterby who does a good job with his older horses in this type of race.
Only a week ago Copper Knight ran a big race in the Nunthorpe at York finishing 5th to Battaash and just half a length behind Mabs Cross (4th) and a length in front of Ten Sovereigns..providing he has come out of that race well this is much easier and in the event of more rain he does also run well on soft. :good:

    Jac

Best of luck Bobby & Graham
Judicial is my second best in this having won the Coral Charge at Sandown last year and with a good record of runs at the course :good: lets hope the draw is kind to us.

Intense Romance for me all day long. 14/1 is a great price.

Although her best form has come on soft and heavy ground that just coincided with her best form coming last season in her 2nd season as a 4yo.

Prior to that all of her winning form was on good, good to soft and tapeta so I dont believe the horse is ground dependant and I would guess this race is the season target.

Draw could have been kinder but that said 4 of the last 10 winners have been drawn between 9 and 13 proving a bad draw can be overcome if you are good enough and if she was drawn stall 1 to 4 she would perhaps be half that price.

Should have a good chance here.

Tis Marvellous looks a worthy favourite to me. Can’t find an alternative to get it beat.

Im going to have to include FAIRY FALCON 25/1 still with bet365.

EASY TO IMAGINE was an unraced mare who has given birth to 6 horses. 2 went to Rod Millman -GELATIN and MASAI MOON who won 13 races between them.
Henry Candy got KURIOUS who is the youngest of the 6 children and has won 3 of 7 races so far, all 3 wins came at Sandown over 5f which has some similarities with beverley.

Bryan Smart had the other 3 children. ALPHA DELPHINI, TANGERINE TREES and FAIRY FALCON.
Smart sent all 3 to run in the Beverley Bullet, Alpha Delphini and Tangerine Trees both won the race and Fairy Falcon attempts to complete the treble in this race tomorrow.
Alpha made all in this race from stall 9 for a pilar to post win, Tangerine Trees was prominent throughout for his win from stall 4m
Smart clearly knows the family inside out and although FAIRY FALCON doesnt come into this race as highly rated as the other 2 she has the 5lb filly allowance and can be expeced to run a lifetime best here.
It looks likely to be gd/sft and that will suit.
1st time blinkers are put on to help her fly early and take a prime position. She made all for her win at thirsk over 5f and she held her own on her first try in group company when a not beaten far 8th of 16 in a group 3 fillies race at York. The fiest 4 home in that race all had single number draws but Fairy Falcon was in stall 14 so its better than the form looks.
She clearly has plenty of speed and should be capable of getting a good position early.
Her only win from 3 runs in her first season as a 3yo came in August so this will perhaps prove the time of year to catch her.
She needed her first run of the season at Musselburgh when unplaced. She was then quickly turned out for her 2nd run back over CD in a 3 runner race. She almost certainly bounced in that race and both of those runs can be instantly excused. She ran a cracker on her 3rd start this year when 8th of 16 first time in group 3 company at odds of 50/1.
The run at Nottingham last time was probably used to put her spot on for this and the 1st and 2nd in that race were held up in a race run to suit the hold up horses.
It looks likely that she is a lot bettr than she has so far shown.
Danny Tudhope on board and she could clearly end up winning this race.

I think the first 2 in the market are vulnerable.

With Intense Romance at 14/1 and Fairy Falcon at 25/1 it looks like a filly could win this race for the first time since Alan Berry sent LOOK BUSY to win in 2008.

The two dangers for me are the sons of Bahamian Bounty ‘ORNATE and TARBOOSH’ but at the prices its all about the girls this time.

A good betting race this – I think Tis Marvellous is a huge lay at the price away from Ascot on softer ground.

Danzeno also opposable from a poor draw, Copper Knight badly-drawn, Judicial perhaps a bit of a muggy one as he *should* be there on ratings/course form but feels like one with problems nowadays. I did want to like Spud’s one but has a huge amount to find on the raw figures.

I’ve backed Tarboosh @ 7/1 – plenty of pace to pull him into it and actually owns four of the top ten individual figures in the race. He shaped better last time and hopefully is tuned for this by one of my favourite trainers of sprinters. I’d love to see him win it – the figures actually suggest he is capable of running to a higher level (on a good day) than some of these rivals who have struck in higher grades (Judicial, Danzeno, Copper Knight) so he deserves to start getting the big returns for his ability.

Intense Romance also an interesting one but perhaps lacks something in race sharpness after an interrupted season. I’d certainly add her to the team if the market signs were right, though.

Its 3/1 co favourites of 4 for me

    INTENSE ROMANCE 3/1
    FAIRY FALCON 3/1
    TARBOOSH 3/1
    ORNATE 3/1
    JUDICAL 16/1
    25/1 BAR

Coin toss between top 4. Could be milimetres in it on the line.

As I mentioned earlier, I would have been all over Intense Romance if it stayed
soft. It’s not quite as heavy as I would want for her but I still think that
she could go well enough on g/s and is worth taking the chance at 14/1 with
bet365. I’m happy enough with the 16/1 I took earlier for Queens Gift, although
Paddy Power have stuck their neck out a bit with 18/1. What price a one two for
Michael Dodds?, I wouldn’t put it past him. I’ve chanced the rev F/C.

Tis Marvellous looks like a much improved horse of late and there’s still some juice in that 11/4 in my opinion.

Tis Marvelous is an ascot specialist. From his 3yo season to the present day he has had 11 races away from ascot and been unplaced 11 times.
He is a high class handicapper and Ascot plays to his strengths.
His target will I believe to defend his wokingham title in 2020. To do that sucessfully he needs to go on a series of unplaced runs between now and next summer starting with a shocker today. Cox has never booked the services of Ben Curtis to ride any of his horses and I suspect that being unplaced today would be classed as a much better run in coxs mind than going close here. They have half a stone in the handicap that they need to drop by next summer. Surely that process starts today.
Stall 2 is ONLY a good draw if you can come out those stalls faster than the lightning fast ‘blink and you miss him’ Ornate and take that rail. Traffic problems become a reality if you cant.

Copper Knight is a flat track specialist and todays track wont suit. Ran badly on his only previous visit here and gives weight away all round with a penalty to carry.

Judical was 3 1/4 lengths behind Ornate at goodwood 29 days ago. I cant see how he can turn that round today and he isnt as good as he was last year. Yes he is unbeaten at Beverley but it was 2 open goals in small field conditions races, he was odds on both times in a 3 and 5 runner race. Ornates Beverley form is actually much stronger and I would argue that Beverley plays to Ornates strengths more than it does Judicals.

Danzeno is best at Ascot. His only 2 wins in the last 25 months came in weak conditions races. Although he won a group 3 early in his career he has been beaten in 16 stakes races since including all 4 times he has ran in listed company. Stall 9 just makes it even more unlikely.

Queens Gift has won 2 class 4 handicaps includong a 5 runner race at Ripon last time from 87 on good, won om gd/frm time before. Big leap in class today and should be taught a lesson. Has stall 1 but unless it can go faster than Ornate out the stalls then its going to be behind with a wall of horses to pass and luck required in thr hardest race she has ever ran in.

Corinthia Knight can outrun his odds of 66/1 but it remains 3/1 co favourites of four for me. Major shock if one of the power four doesnt win, fingers crossed one of the girls can get up and hang on. Its going to be very close.

Betting (at least in the run-up to the race) would be much less stressful if I had potato’s confidence in my selections.

    What a boy.
