Has Zarkandar switched owners since his last appearance?
February 10, 2012 at 01:19 #390563Wouldn’t have thought so. Used to be trained in France but changed hands 3rd Feb 2011 according to the Racing Post.
February 10, 2012 at 09:33 #390582Let’s just hope they can re arrange this meeting for mid-week!!
On a plus note, easy £90 quid made with the abandonment
February 10, 2012 at 11:44 #390593Potentially a little premature I’d say, (the abandonment). I have a friend in newbury says the snow is thawing very quickly indeed and with no further forecast I would have thought they could afford to re inspect this afternoon.
February 10, 2012 at 12:12 #390600Clerk of the Course has abandoned, no chance of racing tomorrow
February 10, 2012 at 18:07 #390643Why the smile GDC?
February 16, 2012 at 15:50 #391683So, as per initial post I have Zarkandar at 8s, not as bullish now though due to the constant ‘please remember this is not his main target’ from Mr Nicholls!
Have followed KF in with Soldatino at 20s EW and now backed Brampour at 33s which i believe is an insult to this horses ability and form! He goes well fresh and has been freshened up nicely after a couple of runs close together. Harry gets on great with him and he is well up to running into a place
February 16, 2012 at 16:28 #391688Been hammering into Third Intention and Empire Levant. Like them both to run better than their odds.
Brampour interests me too and Harry is well worth his 7 claim which is huge in this race.
February 16, 2012 at 18:56 #391708Put Cinders And Ashes or Fingal Bay in this race on, for example, Zarkandar’s weight.
Now look at Double Ross. 66-1 ?
Main negative appears to be stable form.
February 16, 2012 at 19:11 #391710Put rock on ruby in here on top weight and…… oh we have seen it already in november, he wins.
February 16, 2012 at 19:29 #391712Stable form and not enough speed. Although there is a possibility of an easy lead. That form with Cinders And Ashes came when staying on on bottomless ground. Tomorrows conditions are very different Mark. I make Double Ross outsider of the whole field, with a price to beat of 400/1.
My 100% Book:
Zarkander 7/2,Olofi 17/2
, Raya Star 12/1, Darlan 13/1,
Ciceron 15/1
,
Empire Levant 16/1
, Final Approach 16/1, Third Intension 16/1,
Get Me Out Of Here 18/1
,
Brampour 22/1
, Soldatino 33/1,
Desert Cry 33/1
, Ericht 33/1, Abergavenny 40/1, Alarazi 50/1, Via Gallilea 66/1, Rigidity 66/1, Sailors Warn 100/1, Sire De Grugy 100/1, Double Cross 400/1.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 16, 2012 at 20:02 #391718Backed Zarkandar @12s for the Champion Hurdle so I’m hoping for a big run, but if his recent performances aren’t enough, then surely the present form of Tom George / Paddy Brennan gives
Olofi
every chance of running a big race.
February 16, 2012 at 20:39 #391728if empire levant has a good chance then i think raya star could have a squeak, beaten about 4/5 lengths by EL,now 12lbs better off and has won a decent race in the meantime.might back them both.

It’s going to be dead, tacky ground. And there’s no way there’s that much difference between the likes of Desert Cry, Ericht and Double Ross.

There isn’t much between those three on form Mark, agreed. But as you said yourself, NTD is in poor form. Double Ross probably needs a very stiff test of stamina at 2m to be effective. Will need to be very "tacky", doesn’t only need to run to form, he needs to improve dramatically to figure here from 6 lbs out of the handicap.
Ericht is unexposed at a strongly run 2m and could well improve a lot. Stable are in good form.
Desert Cry ran on heavy last time, but that was slowly run. Can pull hard, so a stronger run race may again enable him to improve.
Anyway, may be Double Ross will be allowed a long lead, is the only obvious pace in the race that I could see. Good Luck Mark.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 16, 2012 at 23:26 #391766Zarkander too short, may run a nice race but first time out this is a big ask – even with his supposed "light" weight.
I’m doing Olofi – though the price is shrinking.
Zip
February 16, 2012 at 23:40 #391772Get up early tomorrow Zippy.
I’d be surprised if Olofi is not Pricewise. Suspect you might be able to get some 12/1 in the morning if you’re quick.Value Is Everything - AuthorPosts
