No Ordinary Joe is my shout. Travelled so sweet when winning on reappearance, the margin of victory was tight but I thought it was a decent race. He must have had an issue when pulling up 374 days prior to that at Ascot and his 3rd in the Greatwood before that was a banging effort.
Hendo/Bowen partnership really gaining traction now, I know the trainer really rates him, wouldn’t surprise me to see him as number one in a season or two.11/1 each way.
February 11, 2023 at 06:35 #1634933The favourite looks dangerous but a bit short in the market. I thought Monviel could go well in this. Destroyed them at Ascot on nice ground and trainer purposely kept him away from the races since to be trained for this day. Like the fav, one with potential to be better than his mark but a double figure price so I’ll side with him.
Monviel 12-1 bog ew 5 places
February 11, 2023 at 08:27 #1634944I didn’t really understand why Filey Bay was so short. If you’re looking solely at the facts he’s won two what were pretty much 0-125’s, the second time quickly turned out under a penalty and he’s in much deeper waters here off a much higher mark than he ought to be on what he’s achieved. The handicapper literally couldn’t see what he did at Wincanton due to the weather so he’s guessing that because of connections he’s chucked in and I just don’t know, I mean he’s entitled to be better than that but there are literally half a fields worth of similar horses here and a couple of novices making handicap debuts. Its not even as if JP McManus is only running him is it?
I’ve backed one such horse in Deere Mark because I was taken by what he did at Kempton. Like Filey Bay he’s up significantly in class here and the forms rubbish but unlike Filey Bay I’m getting a decent price in my opinion at least to compensate.
I found it interesting Paul Nicholls saying there was no Champion Hurdle horse here and I’d extend that to saying amongst the novices there is no supreme horse here either. The form of last years Betfair Hurdle has worked out very well and if Glory And Fortune takes the transition back to hurdles okay he’s got a better chance than the market implies of doing it again off top weight in a weaker renewal. Its not as if his fences form was even that bad considering he jumped like a wardrobe, he’d probably have been 2nd behind Bambridge at Cheltenham without a fall, would have been ahead of Tommys Oscar that day. Clearly Kempton was going to be an issue given that jumping so I can give him a pass here. I’m not wild about backing horses changing discipline as a rule but he’s a bigger price than I expected.
February 11, 2023 at 09:10 #1634946Yeah simply because I love the previous winners angle I’ll have a go at glory and fortune.
It’s a crap renewal in reality and not a race to get excited about at all.
Deere Mark won nicely last time and maybe have a bit on him each way.
February 11, 2023 at 09:11 #1634947I’ll probably couple glory and fortune up with jimmy the digger at uttoxeter in an each way double as well.
February 11, 2023 at 09:16 #1634949They’re admitting to Good to Firm in places so it’s likely to be Firmer still.
Nothing that needs cut is going to do any good today and I could see a raft of withdrawals if the jockeys come back after the first and say it’s lightning quick out there.

He’s got form in better races than this and at the same price as Deere mark I’d be happier backing him than one who’s taking such a big jump in class.
February 11, 2023 at 10:44 #1634969Monviel 11-1, and Master Chewy 8-1 for me
February 11, 2023 at 10:46 #1634972Someone just matched me @ 33/1 for Highway One o two. Not concerned at all about him drifting because it seems to happen every time he runs. Honestly, i can’t see how he is not single figures.
February 11, 2023 at 10:53 #1634974I’m in good company!
Yes, botchy1, you’re giving me hope!
How many others in this field have broken standard this season and will relish the quick ground as much?

I couldn’t leave Tritonic though for the each way angle at 25-1 for 6plcs
February 11, 2023 at 13:19 #1635006Monviel and Iclare Allen , both e.w , proper minefield this
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
February 11, 2023 at 13:25 #1635011Glory and Fortune out to 54/1 on the exchanges now. I would of been far better off waiting till the day to have a bet, just a shame you can’t do them each way.
