Backed Altobelli. I took a real liking to him when he ran away with a novice hurdle at Carlisle last season.
Also backed L’Eau De Sud, 7 places each way. Skelton has been known to pull a rabbit out of the hat at a big price in these big handicap hurdles.
I also unexpectedly found a free bet in my Hills account, so I have stuck that on the Mullins/Munir horse just in case he is a blot on the handicap.
February 10, 2024 at 10:37 #1680619Not a bad strategy imo, CAS.
Altobelli will be fully effective in the ground, L’Eau Du Sud is interesting and Ocastle Des Mottes is dividing opinion – I note the RPR think he’s shockingly handicapped, but the Irish assessor clearly has a different opinion and Nicky Henderson was up in arms about the 133, not 139, in a RP story last night.
One thing is certain, though, this has been the plan for Willie Mullins’s horse ever since he missed Ascot in December after scoping badly, connections are acutely aware of the mark differential either side of the Irish Sea and want to exploit it in as valuable a handicap as possible and the horse will have its ground.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"February 10, 2024 at 10:48 #1680623Going with Norman Fletcher here first time in a handicap but will go on the ground.
The things I want most in life are the things that I can't win.
February 10, 2024 at 11:03 #1680628Added Ito Ditto E/W 7places, noted that Sean Houlihan has been jocked off and replaced by Harry Cobden.
February 10, 2024 at 12:41 #1680644The two times the Betfair Hurdle has been run on genuinely heavy ground since 1997, it has been won by horses carrying 10-3 and 10-5. There is only one horse with that weight in this year’s field and it’s a Mullins horse.
February 10, 2024 at 12:50 #1680647Tizzards Cider, I completely understand where you are coming from with this horse ODM, but I’m definitely willing to give him a chance from this yard, and with the weight and ground. It might be a very big dunces cap in the corner for me, but I’ll join in with CAS who has went with him too. I’ll see you in the corner CAS
My outsider is Itto Ditto ew 7 plcs, but I missed the really big odds and had to settle for 28-1. He was 66-1 yesterday
February 10, 2024 at 13:04 #1680654I’ve gone straight for the jugular with Spirit D’Aunou.
February 10, 2024 at 13:17 #1680662See you there, Eezer. I agree with TC’s assessment, I have only had a covering free bet on the Mullins horse. If he turns out to be poorly handicapped, at least I will not have lost any of my own money!
February 10, 2024 at 13:47 #1680669I’m having two win bets in this with Aurigny Mill at 20-1 and Itto Ditto at 22-1
February 10, 2024 at 14:57 #1680695I’ll try l’Eau du Sud 28-1 ew 6pl, disappointing last time but he had stomach ulcers as an excuse.
February 10, 2024 at 15:16 #1680703Onlyamatteroftime and Donnacha for me.
February 10, 2024 at 15:26 #1680707Probably torpedo it as it’s Mullins, but Alvaniy each-way.
February 10, 2024 at 15:28 #1680708Fav will have an excuse now if getting beat.
Value Is EverythingFebruary 10, 2024 at 15:35 #1680709WD any winners – easy win there
February 10, 2024 at 15:35 #1680710I thought mine had it but knew the game was up when the winner came to pick him up. Well done anyone on.
February 10, 2024 at 15:36 #1680711Curse you, Henderson! I thought L’Eau De Sud had it won but he still looked a bit inexperienced up the run in.
Well done to anyone on the winner.
February 10, 2024 at 15:39 #1680712Winner is a good horse in testing ground. Well done to all who made money.
Our Champ cam there swinging 3 out but got stuck in the mud and tired into 7th. He is a horse to follow when we get some nice spring ground.
