Not a fan of MODUS myself but a horse i like at prices is
JOHN CONSTABLE 33/1
Only 4L behind horse who dead heated in ladbroke that is decent handicap form and i think he to big of a price at 33s all i need is E Williams to run him here.Any views on race
January 14, 2016 at 22:09 #1229566Quite like Modus myself Darren, and I’d give him a chance, but far too short at this stage.
Good spot mate, as been keeping an eye on John Constable myself, he looks a really well handicapped horse, and that’s a smashing price. Initially was thinking County Hurdle for him, but trainer is hard to second guess with regards to targets, and he’s not a trainer I usually look at with a view to Cheltenham, so I was thinking of him as the type of horse to do a quick fire double at Aintree, following up with The Scottish Champion Hurdle. If he went here though, I’d probably join you.
I’d be really keen on Sternrubin at the moment, really really taken by him this year, and don’t think he’s got close to stopping improving. I’ve got to have some of the 20’s.
Hopefully some of those above him in the ratings will stay in, and leave him on a nice weight. As much as I’d love to see how Peace and Co would get on here, if conditions weren’t too testing, I’d be very interested in his stablemate Sign Of A Victory as well. Despite the weight he’d have to lump round, the 33’s with Paddy Power is tempting, and I might just have to have a go on him as well.

January 14, 2016 at 23:32 #1229578Peace And Co needs to win this well to merit his place in the Champion imo. No point going to Haydock to try and get him settled behind three or four who’ll be ambling round. Anthony Bromley said a week ago that Haydock should be the next target, but 3 days ago Henderson raised the possibility of the Betfair. If he runs at Newbury, I’ll have no hesitation in having a decent bet.
January 15, 2016 at 09:43 #1229590Peace and Co with a nice bit of cover and a motorway pace would help him settle.
Agree with Joe in that the other race would be a waste of time in a small number field and a crawl.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026

Agree with you on both counts me ol’ Bobby Dazzler, already gone in
Followed up with Ubak as well. His chase career looks to be failing fast and he could be quite well handicapped over timber. Gary’s record in the race speaks for itself. Love the each-way value in this
January 16, 2016 at 11:54 #1229742Sceau Royal – 25/1
Could be well in with the handy weight allowance for being a 4 year old.
It’s not often I’ve seen a 4 year old jump a hurdle as well as him
January 20, 2016 at 15:38 #1230130Just took some 20s Peace & Co in the hope he’ll win on Saturday and they’ll be tempted to make the Betfair his final run before the Champion
February 1, 2016 at 19:30 #1231620Could anybody be able to tell me when the next entry stage for the Betfair Hurdle is and while we are on the subject, which is the best website to find similar information? … I’ve tried the BHA and Wetherby’s sites but with no luck. Cheers.
My own fancies for the race; Days of Heaven / Montbazon though wouldn’t be surprised if neither turned up.
February 1, 2016 at 19:33 #1231622Dac, Next stage is Mondays 5 day Dec Stage.
Go to market on Betfair (better on laptop or desktop as can never find it on phone), and go to “rules” in top left hand corner. This will always give you the forfeit/declaration stages for Ante-Post races.
February 1, 2016 at 21:37 #1231652Thanks VTC.
February 2, 2016 at 20:56 #1231927I have backed
AFFAIRE D’HONNEUR
MAD JACK MYTTON
Mad Jack ran really to be second last time out to Solstice Star last time giving it TWENTY TWO pounds which considering how easily it won on Saturday was an impossible task!!

February 7, 2016 at 19:38 #1232736If Desoto County is declared he will go very close IF he doesn’t he will be one to look out for in a handicap hurdle at the festival

Backed him at 20s with Boyles straight after the Coral.ie Hurdle. Think the race is between him and War Sound.
February 8, 2016 at 14:17 #1232812I like Ivan Grozny if he goes. Was out for almost 2 years before his reappearance run in that competitive Coral hurdle that Henry Higgins won and Desoto County and co were involed. He pulled throughout yet was still travelling as well as anything in the home straight. Understandably wasn’t given a hard time(wasn’t really asked anything at all in truth) and i think he’ll come on a tonne particularly if he’s not as fresh.
His last run prior to that was beating Kitten rock in receipt of 4lb by a head and Kitten Rock’s now rated 160. Off 145 IG will likely be near the top of the weights so i’d like to see maybe Jack kennedy or someone similar onboard to claim a few lb in a perfect world but i definitely think he’ll be having his say in a handicap between now and summer and hopefully this is it.
February 8, 2016 at 19:31 #1232845I backed the winner in this with Zarkandar in 2012 and My Tent or Yours in 2013. My logic was simply being the belief they were both grade 1 horses.
The 2 races since then though have been won at big odds, making all in a slowly run race.
I can see Sternrubin being most handy so will be backing him on that basis.
February 8, 2016 at 20:10 #1232849I have loved this race since it was known as the Schweppes Gold Trophy and when it was “easier” to pick the right one. My last winner was Bootlaces in 1980 (20/1) and before that, the ill-fated Within The Law who beat his better fancied stable companion, Major Thomson in 1979 (at 25’s). I don’t recall a placed horse since, though I live off the fact that it must be one of the most abandoned races in the calendar, so there hasn’t been many runnings since… that’s my excuse anyway. Montbazon still for me at a big price though will be particularly interested to see whom Richard Johnson selects from the Hobbs’ yard.
