November 19, 2025 at 17:25 #1745067Stellar Story should be five times the price he is. Only one chase win to his name, he simply doesn’t meet the requirements needed for a BF Chase. It’s just the lack of opposition that could see him make the frame. While Grey Dawning looks the class act of the race I went for Haiti Couleurs at 7/2 WIN only.
November 20, 2025 at 09:35 #1745096This is normally a race for repeat offenders but i just cant be having RP at 11years old, off the back of 4 poor runs and with the trainer on the cold list.
I was initially drawn to Handstands, but actually a look at his form and he has loads to find. Giving weight away to Resplendent grey wasnt a great performance.
On ratings Grey dawning, potential Haiti Couleurs. I’d go for a reverse forecast.
November 21, 2025 at 13:46 #1745155Royale Pagaille could be into double-digits by tomorrow afternoon. The stable’s runners right now are beaten from a mile out. This is quite different from last season, I mean in a negative way.
November 21, 2025 at 17:36 #1745171There’s times when 5/6 can look a tempting bet however I just don’t get that feeling about Grey Dawning , I can Haiti going off here akin to the Irish Nat , if he gets into a fight with Dawning in bad ground then I’m sure he’ll grind him down , not really sure Dawning is a fighter

November 22, 2025 at 08:38 #1745214Why wouldn’t Skelton run unless it came up really heavy. Dan is going for the Trainers championship (£100K+ to the winner) and probably sees this as GD’s best chance this season. I expect him to be fit and ready. The horse will probably have at least a good two month break as not aimed at the KG and then for a tilt at the GC, after a prep run. Although his chance there will be nowhere near as high as today.
November 22, 2025 at 08:52 #1745216Royale Pagaille and Grey Dawning achieved their current ratings, more or less, by running against each other in this race last year, beating the clapped out Bravemansgame, and then Grey Dawning being comprehensively beaten by Gaelic Warrior in the Aintree Bowl, beating the clapped out Stage Star (ret.), The Real Whacker and Ahoy Senor (all past it).
I’m not convinced Grey Dawning is a proper stayer either. I think last year was his chance.Haiti Couleurs is a proper stayer, and jumps well too, but there’s a lot of “ooooh he’s an up and coming improving 2nd season chaser”. Yeah he’s rising 9. He has been very well trained and placed, and might win this poor grade 1, but he’s not really a grade 1 horse.
Same comments apply to Stellar Story, also rising 9, hasn’t won a grade 1 yet, probably won’t, just another one of Elliott’s handicap boats.
Which leaves me with Handstands. Plenty to question and he really should have been beating Resplendent Grey with his eyes shut if he’s going to be a G1 horse. Still though, I think he’ll get the trip and if the weird jumping and whatnot at Carlisle was just lairiness in front, and not a Getaway deciding that racing is a mug’s game, he has the tools to run past the older horses. He’s my bet today, and I’ve had a bit of the 100-1 ew for the Gold Cup too, just in case.
November 22, 2025 at 09:00 #1745217Definitely just a race to watch for me.
I sincerely hope the losing connections of Grey Dawning, Haiti Couleurs or Handstands don’t take their balls and go home after today. Three smashing horses who should be contesting grade 1’s for the next few years. It’d be a shame if one loss meant we never saw them line up against each other again. Seems a bit of trend these days, especially in this country.
November 22, 2025 at 09:16 #1745220Added RP at 12/1 EW just in case something ‘weird’ happens, like Venetia hitting form for a day.
November 22, 2025 at 12:51 #1745264The most fascianting aspect for me will be the reactions of Royale Pagaille and Grey Dawning finding themselves back in the torture chamber of last year. Will they down tools altogether?
Having watch Haiti Couleurs hurdle win last time – looked an accomplished hurdler for all his size and his main occupation, I wonder if Rebecca Curtis might just have something special on her hands?
Good luck
JoeNovember 22, 2025 at 13:08 #1745268Haiti Couleurs looks a rock solid bet at 11/4 here. Will stay better than the fav, won’t mind any rain, Royal Pagaille very probably on the downgrade.
November 22, 2025 at 13:22 #1745272First chase just 2 secs above standard.
November 22, 2025 at 13:24 #1745273Steeplechasing I’ve been playing through the summer for GC and National thinking the same
