Absolutely brilliant performance and without doubt a much better horse over this trip.
9/4 to 5/2 for the Ryanair now if you’re lucky
February 14, 2009 at 19:28 #210183Choc Thornton never panicked at any stage and oozed confidence throughout. A good confidence booster for Cheltenham.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
February 14, 2009 at 19:29 #210184I think Voy Por will win but we know the ground isn’t his preferred going.
is now
February 14, 2009 at 19:30 #210185Stan James go 7/4.
They were very impressed obviously.
To be honest though, i was too, i think it was brilliant.
February 14, 2009 at 19:33 #210187Im just very pleased for the team and also the horse, not because of my connection to the yard, but the horse has always been under-rated by spectaters i feel.
He’s a brilliant horse to see at home, always lively, always wanting to work, has a great attitude at home and on the racecourse.
Jumps well, and travels well.
He has had his critics, and i would love to see him add the Ryanair to the list of races he has won. He has won an Arkle, he has won a Champion Chase, and to add the Ryanair to that list would be brilliant. He is a very good horse.
Well done Voy Por.
February 14, 2009 at 20:04 #210201Great performance by Voy Por.
Just cruised all the way around
7/4 or 2/1 for Voy Por for the Ryanair is fully justified
February 14, 2009 at 20:46 #210212Great performance from Voy Por, this is his sort of trip alright.
Tamarinbleu disappointing ran well below his form again. Can never seem to nail a Pipe horse they win when they shouldn’t and don’t when they should.
February 14, 2009 at 23:25 #210246I wonder about Tamaridbleu Ian. His overall form is really quite moderate,
I backed him today rather stupidly as I thought VPU might not go on the ground and I thought PIPE fitness might win the day.I think h’e’s quite simply moderate when it comes to meeting the best. He was absolutely stuffed in the QMCC and couldn’t even go the pace. VPU has walked all over him here. That race at Ascot was a farce as Twist Magic was on one of his I am not staying today moods.

Perhaps mate but Tamarinbleu also ran a blinder when only just getting touched off by Snoopy Loopy at Haydock earlier in the season. That form despite Exotic Dancer and Kauto Star being far from at their best is certainly a higher level of form than he ran to today.
Conditions should’ve been perfect for him today but he just didn’t deliver.
I think you’re right about him in top class, competitive races I don’t think he’s a top class Grade 1 horse but when he’s able to dominate in a small field he should be running better than he did today. I was disappointed by his run though he wouldn’t have beaten Voy Por Ustedes anyway. I was the same as you thought he’d struggle in the ground at the trip but he didn’t, was fantastic today.
February 15, 2009 at 00:08 #210256Even though I did not back him today I was so pleased with Voy Por Ustedes performance.
They say you should not get emotional about these things but I have to say I do love the horse, he has been so good to me over the years.
I had two concerns today, the main one being the going and, combined with that, the trip. No worries on either count and my AP on the Ryanair now looks very good.
Like Aristo, my money was on Tamarinbleu today and for teh same reasons. I am very disappointed by the way he ran.
I was worried about the proximity of Gwanako as they turned for home and I would have been very worried had he finished anywhere near VPU today.
The reason being he looked absolutely terrible in the parade ring before the race – he was chucking snot out like nobodies business and the way he was frothing at the mouth a casual observer may have thought he had rabies. Had I had time when I got back to my laptop I would have laid him.
February 15, 2009 at 00:55 #210266I don’t think 5/2 VPU is a good price.
Lovely horse, but is he really that far ahead of the rest of the Ryanair field? Surely there could be one to beat him…
If Big Zeb were to run 20/1 would be interesting IMHO.
Zip
February 16, 2009 at 20:01 #210537Yep, a good performance from VPU who proved me well wrong in staying well on the ground and would seem equally – perhaps more – effective at a near- three miles.
Gwanako’s next run will tell us more about the true worth of the form as with Tamarinbleu running poorly it’s a difficult race to rate with the unexposed Gwanako running on heavy ground for the first time. He may or may not have underperformed, personally I wouldn’t know just yet.
