Novices Championship Final 2024

The first race on the Saturday Sandown card is also the one I’m looking forward to most. Lots of good novices set to line up but the one I really like is Helnwein. As with most horses this season, he has mainly contested races on very soft ground which I don’t think suits, despite connections (paraphrased) comments ‘the softer the better’. 25/1 is a price I’m more than happy to take each way.

I like Fire Flyer. He beat Secret Squirrel on level weights at Taunton earlier this year. Ground may have been too soft for him in the EFB-final, but he was well fancied. I’ll put a line through that run and then he must have a big chance.
