The winner did it well last night but the race was reduced in distance from 12 to 9 furlongs.
He won a race at Belmont but can it really be said he won The Belmont?
June 21, 2020 at 10:10 #1491558It’s a very good question Corky !
Not only but also… All of the right races for the prestigious Triple crown, but not all played in the right order ! Secretariat who was born 50 years and three months ago at Meadow farm must be having the last laugh as his unbeaten speed record is still blowing lovingly in the breeze, as were the white carnations decked around his replica bronze statue in the parade ring – all nodding and bowing to the Wonder horse last night.
” Would you like to swing on a star
Carry records home in a jar ”p.s. The Australian mare Oleksandra in the race previous was 10 lengths off and last before the first quarter and won with brilliant ease in a finish to thrill the socks off. It could be described as a Corker Corky, and just hope you might have caught her eye on the last bend. As for the splits 21.33 for the first quarter mile so maybe they were killing themselves up front but despite thay just wonder where she might be running next, and certainly one for the brokebook for the next run (I know she gets automatic entry for the Breeders cup sprint in Keenland in November but will she get her legs out before ?)
! Hmmmmflatcapgamble…Not many canines know this but 263 roads are named after Secretariat in the U.S.of A, which in itself is a record breaker, most common being Secretariat Drive, but more importantly, one helluva lot of lamp posts. He’s just going out for a secretariat, thank the lord, so I can plonk my hairs in his chair and have a relaxin’ yankeydankeydoodle read of the ol’ Dog Times
