They call him ‘slow count’, anyone heard of him? Didn’t know the man existed until last night when he walked into the paddypower near me, the member of staff on duty sussed him out though so he couldn’t pull any of his sneaky shenanigans

I tried speaking to him but he didn’t want any of it, kind of makes sense now though that I know who he is I think he just wanted to get out of there asap!
He was wearing a coat and a beanie hat (presumably to make it harder to identify him) the crafty chap!

December 18, 2014 at 17:30 #498842From Bobby Swift, an independent based in the south-east, interviewed in September this year (he has the first guy’s name wrong: the guy he refers to is actually Kenny Enver)
“We’ve also had visits this year from conmen Kenny Evans and Barry Conway, both well known to the industry, who’ve done us for about four grand. That’s a huge hit for us but what can we do about it?
“But don’t get me wrong,” he concludes. “I’ve had the time of my life in the game. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and met some really interesting people. I’ve been very lucky.

For those that don’t know, he walks into bookies and puts a bet of £100-£400 on a dog, he gives the slip to the cashier just before the off and while the hares running he counts his cash, the race starts while he’s still counting and during this time he’s listening to the commentary of the race, if his dog has a good start (presumable he bets on dogs that start well) then he gives his cash to the cashier, if he hears that his dog has fluffed the start then he keeps his cash and walks out the shop. Apparently he’ll have a ‘big day’ where he goes to a hell of a lot of shops and does this trick over and over, making over ten thousand on a good day.
December 26, 2014 at 19:42 #499536I’ve met Conway a few times, he just preys on the weak minded staff in the High Street shops who lets face it, 98% of them don’t have a clue what day of the week it is let alone actually understand the dynamics of the betting industry.
