I’m certain he will drift on the day (like Purple Moon did in last year’s Ebor). These kind of horses do… bookmakers will be laying him purely on the price, and becuse they (the on-course ones) won’t have taken a penny for him yet so will need to attract a few decent bets.
Betfair is far more important than bookmakers, they just follow like sheep. Whatever price he is with Betfair he won’t be bigger with bookmakers.
June 16, 2008 at 12:52 #168536Very hard to oppose bankable as usually in the royal hunt cup you’d be looking for a listed/group horse who is handicapped like he is a handicapper. and bankable is just that. There is always the possibility that there are a couple of sleeping giants in the field, but to be fair bankable’s priced so that if he runs to form he wins. I personally wont be on him as would rather find an e/w but I can fully see why many will be on him, if he runs to form something else will need to runs well above theirs.
June 16, 2008 at 13:36 #168542I’ve been very impressed with bankable.
Not just his victories, but his phyiscal presence and turn of foot.
A strongly run race will be right up his street and he looks like he’d stay further than a mile already, imo.
He is short and it is a bit of a graveyard taking on such shorties in such competitive races.
Thing is – we can only say it as we see it – and I Honestly believe Bankable will turn out to be a group 1 winner in the UK at some stage of his career. (unless injury intervenes/sold on etc)
