If you want to see bad rides ,and iam not talking split second wrong decisions iam talking stupidity ,Race 5 Te Rapa New Zealand Saturday , maiden steeple for horses no right minded person pays training fees for . The field is taken out by loose horse , one scrambles over fence like Foinavon , the jockey whilst on her own tries to pull up and can be seen asking what to do , clearly was told to kick on ,the other numpty not unseated but baulked sits on horse and gives another 400 metres before id guess being told get his A in G . He then gives half a decent go at catching the other carthorse who by now thinks hes done his bit and is trying to tap out .
Jumping in NZ hanging by a thread , it needs to go asap .August 6, 2025 at 21:08 #1737714Surprised that nobody has mentioned Patrick O’Brien getting 14 days for easing up too early at Roscommon yesterday.
August 6, 2025 at 21:16 #1737715This one is also quite bad, though I’m not sure about the runner-up being 70 yds. in front.
August 7, 2025 at 14:17 #1737723That 14 day ban for Patrick O’Brien at Roscommon looks a little on the harsh side to me. Far from a flagrant misdemeanour and mitigating circumstances could be argued.
August 17, 2025 at 00:54 #1738108Maybe not a bad ride but that tame finish by 10/11 favourite Puppet Master at the Curragh yesterday was a bad look. Was there any other feedback apart from that he was hanging?
August 17, 2025 at 10:13 #1738126AOB has had 4 odds-on favourites in the last week and all have been beaten. Will be interesting to see how he gets on at York.
August 19, 2025 at 12:00 #1738272Get ready for a few bad rides at York. The Track is a big long straight and you shouldn’t get into too much trouble but jockeys do and I am never sure whether it is intentional or just bad riding.
Keep an eye out for Daniel Tudhope at York. Can be very good and very bad on the same day it just depends whether he is at it on not.(IMO)August 21, 2025 at 18:41 #1738490Jack Cleary just now on Galveston in the 1m6f Vinne Roe at Leopardstown.
On a known front runner, he broke slowly and was then rousted and rushed up to get to the front and then instead of settling it down to sensible fractions he just let the horse keep rolling pretty much as fast as the horse could go with not a look behind to see that they were strung out like the finish of a 3m chase in heavy ground at (insert whatever stiff course of your choosing).
As they turned out of the back straight you could already see Clearly starting to push and unsurprisingly to all (bar the jockey himself it would seem) Galveston cried enough just before turning into the home straight where he engaged reverse with the jockey resorting to the whip several times as they straightened and he dropped out the back of the TV…….a disgraceful ride start to finish that the horse didn’t deserve.
August 23, 2025 at 15:57 #1738762Anyone on French Master in the Ebor knew their fate pretty quickly – drawn very wide, he missed the break (as is his wont but not as bad as today) but instead of dropping in like he has done in the past, Havlin took leave of his senses and whilst being anti social and sticking to the far outside rail he not only made up the lost ground but then continued on past the whole field to go and make the running.
Although he did try to back the field up and slow the pace down once he got there, he clearly had used up far too much of his horse’s energy and quickly engaged reverse once the field came alongside him halfway up the straight and eventually managed to beat one horse home…..some 20L behind the winner.
A complete waste of time especially considering he was well fancied (the 11/2 2nd favourite) despite being the top weight…….maybe Havlin thought he was on pacemaker duties
August 23, 2025 at 16:05 #1738764I thought it was a brilliant ride, similar to Dettori’s on Golden Horn in the Arc: drawn wide, you keep a straight line down the initial straight and then cut across at the bend.
The fact that the horse wasn’t good enough off that mark is the problem, not the ride.
August 23, 2025 at 20:41 #1738810Agree to disagree – he is a hold up horse who missed the break significantly and a couple of furlongs later was in front, that used up far too much energy and his final finishing position (to me) clearly indicated the jockey got it badly wrong.
December 15, 2025 at 19:55 #1747648This wasn’t Townsend finest hour , far too confident esp considering the yard is having a quiet spell …
Pick 3 on Saturday champion 2025/2026
December 15, 2025 at 23:38 #1747672The media professionals in the sport are reliant on the jockeys for their copy, next TV interview etc. If they criticise jockey for poor rides the get ignored come winning interview time. I saw it happen when someone had the courage to criticise a Ryan Moore ride and Ryan blanked him for several weeks after.
December 22, 2025 at 12:30 #1748292Nico De Boinville on Khrisma 12.20 Huntingdon
they are blaming the horse / a good ride by the winner but come on
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
January 18, 2026 at 14:24 #1750950Ned Fox, Princess Keri, 3/1 favourite, 2.05 Fakenham.
At least 10 lengths clear, still with the revs up and then gets unseated at the last hurdle. Wouldn’t it have been more sensible to steady it up and then just pop over it?
I didn’t back the horse, before anyone asks!
January 18, 2026 at 15:40 #1750972Maybe he was channelling his inner Adrian Maguire…
March 7, 2026 at 15:06 #1757515Jamies Spencer’s ride on La Botte in the 2:42 Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton. Held the horse up in last place and left it far too late. Should’ve won that. Really p****d off with that jockey now. Needs to retire. Pratt!
I started off with Scorpio Rising and Mondo Man … pisspot Spencer wrecks it.
Waiting for Lune Brilliante now…
